Even if you're below the 5'9", I would still advise not to get the CR windshield. After using it for over 3k kms, I thing it is too over-engineered to fit into our bike.
I'm 6ft under (pun-intended) at about 5'11" so around the same ball-park. On the test vehicle the screen was on its low position and the wind buffeting was unbearable. I was lucky to get a 2nd test ride a few weeks later and on the high position this vanished and the air flow was much more direct and streamlined. Please do update once you have tried out Red Liner's suggestions of going without the block. Would be curious to know.

Our bike has a grave fault. The headlight module is mounted on just three points and almost hangs freely as a cantilever. You'd have noticed how much it shakes on bad roads and bumps. Slapping on more weight to it is just going to make it worse. And the headlight module comes as a single unit and is very expensive (IIRC ~20k). So do consider this whenever you're planning to buy the taller windshield.
Unfortunately yes. I notice that its not just bad roads but also low engine speed + high gears which the bike absolutely hates of course. I've jus crossed 1K KMS and will get my vehicle serviced this weekend where i will try and get some info. Probably will need to regularly fasten a few bolts. This was also on the test vehicle and the 2nd test ride it was fixed. I bet that I was given the vehicle right after its service.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

I was planning on getting the handlebar risers. I'm 6ft tall and was planning to get the 1" handlebar risers.

It is really difficult to get up the saddle and ride on rough roads as reaching out to the handlebar gets me to an uncomfortable standing position. Hopefully the risers can help. I believe the 1" risers shouldn't cause any issues with the current length of the clutch cables, but I'd really appreciate if someone could confirm.

There are 2" risers available in the market as well, but I'm pretty sure I'd have to change the clutch cables for that, which I'm not really keen on.

If someone has already installed the handlebar risers, I'd really appreciate your riding feedback from the same.

Thanks!

Guys, any detail review of the new MRF Tyres which comes on 390-adventure? Tried my best to search through posts, but couldn't see more than a line or two.

I have the 1 inch raisers from CR and it did not require any change in clutch cable. But I have also moved the handlebars slightly forward since I felt the handlebars were a tad closer to me post the installation of risers and moving the handlebar slightly forward helps with saddling on this bike.

I am 5 11. I do a decent bit of offroading. I recently installed the Zana handlebar risers, and the are an absolute boon. Much more comfortable saddling position, as I do not need to bend over. The general sitting posture has improved as well, since the riding triangle is better now.

I also installed the Carbon Racing windshield, and it is absolutely brilliant - high speed wind buffetting is almost negligible.

Thank you for the feedback. Few queries though! What was the height of the risers that you installed? If at all they were 2 inches in height, did you also swap the clutch cable with a new one? If so, which clutch cable did you swap it with?

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

I just picked up an Adventure 390 this month (in place of my 2014 Duke 390). The front brake seems to squeal most of the time, and the service centre as well as a few online sources say that it's normal because of the different brake pads used. Any idea as to whether this issue will subside on its own or whether the pads can be swapped out to solve it?

Brake squeal is normal. Continue riding your lovely bike. It should disappear in some time..the brake squeal

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

I seem to be having a peculiar issue with the quick shifter. My bike is 3K+ kms old and

1. Downshifts still work well most of the time - but rarely remains non responsive
2. Up shifts do not work occasionally. This happens at all gears / temperatures / RPMs
3. No errors on the MID

Has anyone faced such an issue?

The stock OEM front sprocket after 14000 kms on the trot over two months in the Eastern Himalayas.

Lesson learnt: Replace front sprocket (measly 250 bucks) every 7,500 kms and get rid of the chain assy at about 14000 kms or so.

I had that happen to my Bullet 500 rear sprocket once. You're really lucky you made it back. The amount of torque on the front sprocket is not funny.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

I had been to Art of Motorcycle and saw Zoheb's bike there. Had to take a pic (a pathetic one at that though).
Some changes that he mentioned among a sea of them -
- AOM handlebar (my opinion, looks good on the Himalayan, not on the Adv)
- Spoke rims (21" front)
- Powertronic ECU with 2 power modes that can be switched with a button
- A brake lever (foot) that folds automatically in case of a crash
- Rear rack that looked sturdy (see the red bars at the back of the bike)
- Custom Bash plate
- 47 tooth rear sprocket
- Doubletake mirrors
- Maddog Alpha aux lights (they look massive to me, so does the bike actually)

I'm assuming you're using the QS the right way. It takes a little bit of learning curve and is counter-intuitive to normal riding.

You should NOT cut the throttle while upshifting. Hold the throttle position and upshift above 5000 RPM. Common mistake made by many is that at the time of upshifting they release the throttle a little. QS doesn't work properly if you release throttle.

If you're using it correctly, then get the QS learning cycle done once again at the SVC.

Also, I have found that the more you use the better it gets. For me the QS is butter smooth and such a convenience.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Hi guys, just planning to pick up the adv next week. Can someone help with recommendations for a windshield? I am 6 feet tall.

Give is too expensive. Carbon racing hasn’t responded on insta. Adventure conquests? Any suggestions please? Thank you.
