I'm planning to purchase a Powertronic piggyback soon, the chaps at RaceDynamics told me it will be ready 2nd week of September. Seems they have a new model coming out for the Adv. Instead of performance I'm only looking for the benefits of correcting the overly lean BS6 tune - smoother and more relaxed engine.

I'm not sure if RaceDynamics will let me try the box before I purchase, but I've only heard good things about the piggyback, even on international forums.
Thanks for the update. After u told me this, I spoke to the race dynamics guys. They are coming up with something called fuel x, which is going to be some kind of fuel optimiser approximately costing 7-8k.

The powertronics is available with 2 maps or you can custom ur own map as per them.

And yes, my bike has a lot of vibrations, seems to struggle a little bit to get to higher rpms too. I’m also looking at just optimising the bike and getting it to perform like it should or like it can, actually! If I wanted 90 bhp, I’d buy a tiger.

Thanks so much for your input! Keep the thread rolling!

Try this, its 2 hours from Bangalore. Doesn't go through active elephant areas, and the lower level of it is a popular picnic spot with some cave temples.

This is breath-taking. The trail ascends on the hill's perimeter and offers grand views. It's not too difficult when it's dry.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Am...7!4d78.0172614 - Most people know it as Kailashagiri.

If you do decide to venture off the trails, exercise extreme caution as it's full of hand sized spiders and their webs. Oh and these spiders can also fly.

Get rid of the extra extension on the back of the wheel and you have an actual high fender that eliminates the issue of mud sticking to the under of the fender and preventing the wheel from moving.

Install a high quality radiator guard to prevent the radiator from dying early from mud being splattered all over. Wash radiator often and immediately with an unpressured hose. Still,it will probably have a far more reduced life.
Can't agree with you more on this. Eliminating the rear flap on the front stock fender would be the best option under such circumstances.

Case in point - There was another ADV with me at the same time, majority of the stock fender has been sawed away and had no issue ploughing though. A couple of inches of the plastic remain only to hold the fork covers in place.

The link below has a good illustration on the fitment for the pre-filter

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

I completely agree with your BMC filter review. Mee too feeling the punch after changing to BMC. Low end torque is good and after I changed the ECU version to V11, the results are amazing - combined effect of V11, BMC and NGK.

On another note, had a good trail hunting session last Sunday. With the front mud guard cut off to about mid point (just ahead of the forks) and having it replaced it with the Xpulse fender, I must say it hasn't helped much With a mixture of roots, twigs and clay, CAKED was an understatement.

Attachment 2202056

One thing I learnt during such times is to try and clear the clogged mud/clay as soon as possible no matter where its stuck - front fender, bash plate, rear suspension, calipers, swing arm, pegs. The longer you leave it, the harder it gets, especially anything stuck ahead of the engine or over the exhaust since the heat will cook all the muck and is almost as good as a block of rock. Just one allen key bolt on the right hand behind the fork removed to access the underside of the left over stock fender and almost everything was scrapped off with a random piece for twig.

Attachment 2202057

Also something I learnt post this incident, frequent hard taps on the stock fender before it can get completely caked will also help, must be realised sooner though.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Can anyone here vouch for (or against) the pillion comfort on the Adv390?
I may consider transitioning to it if the pillion comfort criteria is sorted. Might either way lol, and hand over keys to Himalayan to wife permanently

A girl-friend (not girlfriend) sat on the back for a ride over to my house. She was pleased.

Not sure about day long or weeklong rides. I would think a longer wheelbase bike with more seat space would be ideal. A used versys for close to the price of a new 390 adventure is always my answer to those seeking pillion+luggage capacity.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Has anyone received/tried/ reviewed the new fuelx from race dynamics? I’m very eager but I’ll wait for some pros to give a feedback.

I can see how my question might've led you to ask this Suffice it to say, Himalayan is an excellent motorcycle for 2-up riding.
You can load as much luggage as you want and still maintain enough space for a pillion to comfortably do 700+ kms in a day.

I asked because I am considering upgrading (yes, that's the word I would use for my purposes) to the ADV390. And since I primarily go long distance riding with my wife, pillion comfort has to be guaranteed.

I'm not in the financial state to afford big bike service costs yet. And also lighter bikes just make sense, especially with a pillion and after luggage is loaded on. The ADV seems to make the most sense for what it offers today.

If you want a pre owned but used just 3000 kms first batch 390 adventure, let me know and I will put you onto a friend who is selling.

I think for touring and riding with a pillion and luggage nothing beats a Himalayan on a budget. The 390 while she can tour, is not really that comfortable ergonomics and seat comfort wise. Compared to a Himalayan.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

How are RK Takasago chains (http://global.rk-japan.co.jp/) compared to the OE Rollons , any idea ?

The ones that we get here are made in Malaysia as far as I know.
