I am in the same boat as you. A friend is selling a 02/2020 manufactured and 09/2020 registered orange 390ADV asking for 3L firm.
Accesories include GR40 aux lights, larger windscreen and wraparound engine guard.
Bike has run 5k kms and I have been riding alongside for 3.5k of those so I know it is not an abused bike.
My only concern is it is a 02/2020 manufactured bike so is it from the first lot with any niggles? My friend has not experienced any niggles so far.
I will be closing the deal this weekend and post pictures here.

OmV, this seems like a bike which has practically grown up with you and seems like a good friend who owns it, as you have been riding with him for a substantial amount of time. Your friend also confirms there are no niggles. It doesn’t get any better than this in the pre-owned space, just pick it up, be positive and enjoy the ownership experience.

Congratulations in advance and all the best.

Cheers

I just got back home with this bike. My family is fast asleep but I wanted to tell someone, so here I am

Compared to my erstwhile 2018 N650, I felt a stark difference in the power. The suspension is ridiculous good - I used to baby the Ninja on rough surfaces but tonight I flew over humps and what not without any feedback. First couple of times I flinched and almost braced myself for the jerk; but it never came!
More later!

Next I need to get a new helmet, my old MT is a fungus colony.

Congratulations OmV!! Very happy to see/read your happiness. You certainly want the whole world to know Enjoy her to the fullest and certainly get a new helmet at the earliest.

Is that a wrap on your bike, more pictures from different angles would be great. You spoke about the suspension being good as compared to your earlier Kawasaki, please do explain that as most reviewers and even our own people have said the suspension is hard. Has your friend done any modification to the suspension? If so, do share it.

Do continue to share your experiences with the lovely lady.

Cheers

Congrats on getting 390ADV.
New bike may warrant new helmet, however attribute fungus to current non-seasonal cloudy weather in our area. Remove visor, liner and let the lid get dry under sun or fan. If you venture out on more off-road trails on 390ADV, you better get an ADV helmet.

Hi Cyborg, I find myself in the same quandary.I have an Interceptor 650 with me which I love for what it can do but then am contemplating on the A390 where the former can't take me comfortably. Had received a couple of leads for pre-owned A390s from a friend who has an A390. But the price being asked was 3.3 lacs for September '20 bike and 3 lacs for March '20 Bike. Feel getting a brand new bike by adding another 90,000 is advisable.

Cheers

Thank you for the response thumpmeister.

Since a new one is for INR 3.92 lacs, I feel if you are getting a clean piece for around 2.90 to 3 lacs which makes it almost a lac cheaper is a fair deal and worth buying. Finding a clean piece is a problem if you are a finicky person

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Agree with you Cyborg but then I get that doubt at the back of my head since it would not be sparkling new. Also I am recovering from a foot operation hence could not actually check the pieces out. Since you are also in the market for a pre-owned A390, let me know if I should share the leads with you.

Cheers

Second hand/pre-owned is always a bit iffy unless it’s a known person and especially since we have a suspicious mind There is nothing better than a brand new bike/car in my opinion too as a best case scenario. Will revert on private message about lead sharing if required, thanks a lot for the offer!

Wish you a speedy recovery, hope you get back to normal life soonest. Take care!

Hey - A used bike dealer in Mumbai had a couple of ADVs listed for 3.3L a few months ago. Both were of similar vintage to your prospective specimen. So if you are dealing directly with the seller then 3.3L may seem slightly on the higher side. Of course if there are a bunch of good quality accessories and very low miles it may make up the difference and you don't end up spending more money on accesories. Unless the bike is completely stock, the number to compare it with is 3.92L + cost of accessories. (Assuming you want accesories). I paid 3L recently for a March'20 manufactured (Sept 20 registered) bike with good quality accessories on it. I only had to add a second set of aux lights as I am blind as a bat at dusk and dawn.

It's always a bit of a risk buying a used bike from an unknown person but if the owner is part of the same group as your friend, he could do a deep dive on your behalf. This isn't a 4 cylinder that folks rev till kingdom come. The worst case it could be dropped on trails or such, and this could be figured out by a visual inspection or service records/insurance claims.

Most importantly, get well soon. I hope you are back on the saddle soon.

Hey OmV, the pre-owned bikes were stock with no mods. My buddy does not know the owners personally neither has he ridden with them, hence it was a shot in the dark thing plus I am still recuperating and can't ride. Will check back with them once I recover. BulletRaja in Mulund has some A390s on sale. Thank you for the wishes.

Cheers

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Last minute information for anyone interested in buying a new KTM. Supposedly this scheme was on since the last six months and is ending on 30th November, 2021. It’s included with the cost of the bike and may or may not be extended beyond the end of the month. The bike has to be invoiced, that is, full payment made by 30th November for this to be applicable. Normally you can buy extended warranty only for another 2 years (2+2) by paying INR 2000 additionally.

Total 5 years extended warranty (2 standard +3 complimentary).
1 year Road Side Assistance complimentary.
Some discount on KTM arranged rides or something like that. Not sure on this one.

Hope this helps if someone is interested.

Cheers

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

I've mentioned before, but my dash still has the screen flickering issue.
Kept upgrading to the latest software time and again, but no luck.

Now the only choice is to replace it, which is fine since I have warranty.

My only concern is the odometer reading.
Is there any way where we can have the new meter match the ODO reading of the old unit?
I don't want it to go back to ZERO.

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Took the bike out for a 355 km breakfast run yesterday.

I still don't find a reason to upgrade to anything more expensive or faster. This just does it all for me. And this means a lot because the 390 ADV was not the bike I wanted, I wanted to buy the RE CGT 650 in Chrome.

Tyres still look good, ODO reading has crossed 13,000 last week.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Has anyone done a CAT delete on their bikes? If so, can someone please give me some details. Also, what exactly is that big black ugly box and what does it do sitting in the mid pipe section before the end can? Thanks!
