For someone like me super keen on upgrading to the ADV 390, do you think I should wait for the 2025 model? I like the current model and have taken several test rides in highways and hills and city too and although the low end is underwhelming, the top end is ballistic and so enjoyable. Its still not available in the trim I want though. Adjustable suspension and alloys. The only concern I have with the 2025 is, if you are right and it turns out to be an Enduro with spoke wheels and dirt bike styling (with vertically stacked projector lamps), I wouldnt want to go for it. But have heard the new LC4C engine addresses the low end torque issue too and it will only get better with the ADV. Also, is it actually coming in 2025?

I think it really depends if you're going to be ok waiting till next December. The current 390 Adv shares its frame with the old Duke, but I think the sub-frame is different. The new Adv will get a different frame but the same engine, with of course different gearing, and I'd expect the same variant in it as the current one. And I think the current Adv can get adjustable suspension added afterwards too. You'll definitely spend plenty though, certainly more than a normal Adv.

Just completed a 340km journey from Nizamabad to Hyderabad and back.

In general, the Maxxplore tires performed exceptionally well throughout the entire trip – no problems whatsoever. Unexpected rain in Hyderabad (attributed to the northeast monsoon) gave me an opportunity to test the tires on wet roads. For the most part, they handled the ride smoothly. However, on the wet roads after the overnight drizzle, I noticed some sliding here and there. It didn't instil as much confidence as Metzelers.

In dry conditions, these tires offer excellent performance for the price. I even reached a maximum speed of 140km/h without any issues.

That's the best mileage I could eke out from the ride. 35.8km/l

Are any KTM adventurers planning to visit? I have been more of a solo rider for years and only participate in Company-sponsored/backed group riding programs. I am not very sure about these private events as I am not into partying since it usually becomes more of a nuisance than motorbiking. But I have heard that the riding gears are available at good discounts. Plus, I have never visited Goa Any reviews about this event?

Hello Buddy,

With the launch of new Himalayan you can go for its Tubeless spoked wheel that is sold as an accesory.
Yes It will require some tire mods though.

may be rather than waiting for 2025, my thought process is, with the second hand markets booming one can always sell the vehicle for at least its exshowroom price. Generally used vehicles with less than 2-3 years of age can yield even more

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Is there any update to have navigation working on the 390 ADV speedometer?
On android, there was a jugaad app (non-KTM) which would work.

Does anyone know any permanent solution?

I don't like to mount my phone on the handlebar, notifications distract me.
But watching the ETA, knowing turn-by-turn updates, that I like.

Beeline link

Not everything you require (won’t have ETA possibly) but maybe this is a lighter version of a solution you’re looking for. I believe Amazon India also retails this. It’s definitely not cheap though, specially given its basic directions and not map like image.

The android app works well, no problems with it. But I still prefer an actual display of the map in front of me so I can second guess Google maps and not the other way around!!!

I don't want to have another device.
And given how pricey this is, I can have a cheap spare android phone just for maps.
But again, I don't want to add another device.

Yes, the android app with google maps served me well.

So there's no way we can have navigation on the speedometer cluster with an iOS device?

Unfortunately not. The guy who developed it is a KTM motorcyclist and was peeved with the crappy OEM solution and hence developed this for free for users worldwide!

If your primary issue is distraction from notifications, you can mount your existing phone with maps loaded and switch off mobile signal so notifications don’t drop while you’re riding. Doesn’t even require a cheap second phone and you can always catch up on breaks. Maps once loaded will work even if the phone is offline (you’ll save battery too) - the only downside is it’s not real time updating but on predictable routes that should not be a fatal usability aspect.

Check this quote from our fellow mate. I have tested this app and it is working flawlessly for me. Use the direct link as if you just search KTM on playstore it only displays the official app. Not even KTM India app.

With my phone connected to the bike via bluetooth and the above app installed, I do the following to get the Navigation instructions on my bike:

1. Open Google maps and start the navigation.
2. After the navigation has started, open the KTM navigation app and click on the refresh connection button.

That's it - after the 2nd step I see the navigation on the left side of the TFT. I've used it a few times (in-city and on highways) and the instructions are helpful without any noticeable delays.

This app does need 1 special permission, without that it can't "read" the navigation instructions.

For iOS, there seems to be a 'KTMConnect' app, but going by the reviews online it seems to be awful.

If you have a used Android phone lying around you can try this app on that.

Any reason for the main frame being different from the gen 3 duke? Looks the same in the spy pic.

The new duke frame is really a wonder. Nice and responsive, narrow, provides decent gc of ~180mm while maintaining a really approachable seat height. All this if transferred onto the adv with more 40-50mm gc with increase in suspension travel and seat height(820-840 with the same narrow frame) would result in a potent adv.

Have not ridden the new Himalayan but had a look around in the showroom. For all the advancements and equipments, it definitely has a heft and top heavy nature. As per me, the definitive advantage the old himalayan offered over the adv390 is pricing, torquey low down performance, more pliant low speed suspension and most importantly, an accessible seat height for average Indians that negated the weight disadvantage.

Really opens up the door for KTM to target customers with average build and height to capture the market.

I was really hoping that KTM would be fast on it's feet to announce the new Adv 390 with the new engine and chassis, but all they came up with is new color for 2024. Now I have a lot of plans for 2024, so I will have to go for the Himalayan 450. I have done the test ride on Himalayan and the bike is heavier than the KTM but it was easily maneuverable from the saddle thanks to the seat height being more accessible and thus more traction on your feet (in off road situations), KTM was like dangling a foot from the coconut tree which made me get down and then push around the bike off the saddle.

All other fronts KTM is an excellent bike, on road or off road I didn't face any issues. Also didn't feel the low end torque issues (because I don't like to lug any vehicle, so if required I shift as many times as required). It would have been already in my garage had not the new engine refresh come and the Himalayan not launched !!
