used the Zana crash bars for couple of months and moved back to the stock ones. For me it was more of the added weight than the vibrations.

And she hits the 100K mark

This magnificent bike hit the 100K milestone today

The going so far has been exceptionally smooth with zero mechanical/electronics niggles.

Apart from the regular upkeepment, the only component that I had to change during this journey has been the O2 sensor.

Here are some snaps of this beautiful machine that has taken me to all four corners of the country !

Hearty congratulations man! I recently saw another ADV hit the 100K mark on instagram and the owner had the same feedback. You munch some serious miles. I see you have moved on from backpacks to saddlebags . Would recommend a tailbag as its more secure and wont shift at all.

You plan to move to a twin like the NX500 or upgrade the VStrom to a bigger ADV? now thats shes crossed "the mark"

Many of us in the 390 adventure have actually downsized from a bigger adv in the first place. What some of us would like from here is a twin cylinder in the same adv/size/weight format. Ease of maintenance is a big requirement for guys who put serious miles in faraway no mens lands.

Upcoming made in India options include the Touareg 457 and the BMW 450GS. The NX500 will be outclassed by both.

As red liner has rightly mentioned above, ease of maintenance is of paramount importance to me (parts availability +access to service centers).
Nothing beats the KTM ADV 390 in this regard especially when compared to say Honda/Suzuki.

Maximum uptime is what I need from a touring bike and KTM ADV 390 gives me just that .So, for now at least, I cannot think beyond my beloved ADV 390 .

The NX was just an example . I rode it yesterday and yes, the performance is not worth the sticker price. But the smoothness and comfort over long distances is a big draw, along with the japanese reliability. I too am waiting for the Tuareg 457 or may be a preowned CB500X for a second bike once my Duke is retained to only city duty. But Aprilia service is still a hit or miss, something that Honda too hasnt got right yet inspite of having the time - hopefully they do.
The only disadvantage of the 390 ADV I could think of is the smoothness aspect - it does get a little tingly in the footpegs over a long day of riding for heavy users like rb2399, or the snatchy nature like a Ducati if you are in the mood for some Bullet-type riding. but thats the tradeoff for a do it all, low cost ADV as you said.

On to the 200K mark

Oh Wow, You have truly given the bike, its life. It possibly wants to be born again as your ride partner in it's next Avatar. Love to hear stories from all your rides. I'm sure you have collected a life's full of experiences to share, about India.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Wow, that is some serious running. Congratulations.

I am keenly waiting for the 2025 KTM ADV 390 and such reports give a lot of confidence. The only aspect I miss is the smoothness of twin cylinder for long distances. Hope Touareg 457 and BMW 450GS will also be launched sometime next year.

As asked above, I would like to know how you find time for such serious riding managing getting leaves, family commitments etc.

Wish you many more happy journeys. You are really an inspiration.

Congrats on the milestone!

Am guessing you are one of the earlier buyers in early 2020. 100K on a bike is a lot. That too under 5 years speaks volumes of your travels. Do share some stories.

By the way, am quite impressed that you haven't had an engine rebuild in 100K when typical KTM 390 engine lasts about 40K. That is rare!

P.S: If my guess is right, we were supposed to travel together to Ladakh with HVK in 2009/2011. Look forward to crossing paths on the highway soon.

I'm cross-posting from my other thread:
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super...ml#post4821410 (My Suzuki V-Strom 650 | Now 75,000 kms up)

I am a salaried person and juggling between the office work and riding is always not that easy. It's just that riding makes me forget everything and hence that's always priority # 1. Once you get that straight, everything else falls in place !

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Great going rb sir!

Now 100k on the Vee? Having a multi-bike garage and still clocking 100k on a single bike is awesome.

Are you in a mood to exchange this for the new KTM Adv or Bajaj should give you one to test for 100k kms!

Happy mile munching,
