I'm very surprised Hero isn't even trying 200cc commuter segment with BS6. Or the only other guess I can make at this point is if Xtreme160R will be start of new approach and would get the Xtreme200R sibling later in the year.

It is always interesting when overall market leader lags in a certain segment and tries to make an impact. Suzuki has been very good at this in recent times with Baleno/Brezza/Ciaz. Can Hero do anything similar in 160+ segment?

We shouldn't forget that this was a segment where original HH was an aspirational choice with CBZ and Karizma, but has since lost out to agile competition as well as not being prepared after separation from Honda

Curious, does any one own(or even like) the other xpulse sibling 200t ? Seem to be the most confusing variant they had launched.

While the xpulse 200 is catering to the specific audience and in fact does excel considering the price point, same cannot be said about the other sibling. Sure it is priced very low in 150cc category but i wonder why anyone would choose it for touring(especially when this engine is not known for its top end)

While casually browsing, i came across Yamaha XSR155(drool worthy!!) and realized that xpulse 200t resembles the same. Since then i am beginning to like it and with little mods, it can be a poor man's neo-retro scrambler

Does anyone have any opinion on 200t ?

Re: Hero models discontinued: Xpulse 200T | Xtreme 200S/R | Passion X Pro / PRO i3s | HF Dawn

Did it come with the same suspension as the 200 or was it shorter units borrowed from the xtreme200?

If it was long travel, there would definitely be a lot of practical appeal in it. "Supermoto" bikes do marvelously for indian city conditions and mild offroad. I'd been contemplating switching out the wheels on my impulse for 17 inchers and road tyres.

I wonder what's taking hero this long to put out the BS6 200T.

Yes. Since last few days I have started developing taste for 200T.

Pricing wise its in the range of other bikes in "premium commuter" segment.

Following are advantages of 200T in comparison to other similarly priced bikes in my personal opinion.

1. Look (Very subjective and may be due to my age - 40 running ) I personally like 200T's "retro" front look more in comparison to other "more sportier" looking bikes.

2. Rear disk breaks

3. Few more horses (many similarly priced bikes have 12 to 15 bhps)

I think hero missed the boat on this one with the styling. They could have retained the regular xpulse' styling and just given it some chunky 17" wheels, instead they went with the commuter path. Also , they deliberately omitted abs ,on a 'ROAD' bike. Sometimes, I truly wonder what the guys at hero are smoking. I guess they just tried experimenting both ways as the older impulse was a major flop but they seem to have shot themselves on the other leg this time.

I feel with a slightly dirt oriented mudguard and an upswept exhaust this could be a looker and I think the suspension travel is higher than a regular bike but lower than the xpulse'.

Hero Motocorp has relaunched the Xtreme 200S in it's BS6 avatar @1.15 lakh!

Link

Hero has also introduced a new colour option called the 'Pearl Fadeless White'

Powered by the same old 199.6cc motor which is now oil cooled and has slightly lower power and torque output at 17.8hp and 16.4Nm!

All other specs remain same as the BS4 motorcycle.

Personally I feel this is the best looking 200cc motorcycle and should be a good purchase, considering that it is still a very VFM motorcycle with good handling and high speed characterestics!

Are there any reliable reviews for the xtreme 200s and any comparisons with Gixxer SF 250?

What information exactly are you looking for? For average usage, it's not a bad bike at all. More than adequate for city commutes and highways if you don't mind a cruising speed of around 90 kmph. But it's really a basic bike.

Have a look at the xpulse threads if you want to have a ballpark understanding of how the engine behaves and holds up over time and the average maintenance costs.

Basically, they've just put different wheels, suspension and bodywork over that frame and engine.

They're around 50cc and 70000 rupees apart. Why make the comparison?

You pick the Hero if you have a tight budget and want a no-nonsense faired bike for the money.

If you have more money to spend, you look elsewhere.
