Being an RE, uncomplicated "engine down" is part of the design brief to any chassis designer.

Hi,
Did not quite understand how that will help with the removal of engine. Can you please explain better??

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

With no doubt all I can say is RE slump has started now. Anyday Honda H'ness 350 over these RE vibrating piecesof iron for me. The only reason I'm holding my TB 500 is that I need to ascertain pillion comfort of Honda 350 as it's going to be a deal maker or breaker for my usage. Meanwhile Honda should atleast offer this bike for sales through regular dealers in small towns or open showroom in every possible town.

Hi,

The engine will drop down from below, once the two piece cradle is removed. That's what it looks like to me, though I have not seen the bike closely to see where the rear of the cradle is fitted.

Cheers, Doc

As you know, a normal standard Bullet engine is a stressed member. So when we need to do an engine down, we remove the chassis bolts and head steady, and voila the engine drops cleanly below. Of course first disengaging the independent Albion gearbox (or the 5 speeder for the AVLs).

Considering a Bullet engine weighs near as much as a small-medium average Indian male (around 55 kilos if my memory serves me ... for a 350) that's a big boon. You don't want to be wrestling it sideways.

No idea about how much the multitude of new engines weigh but I'm guessing not a whole lot less if at all.

Another thing I noticed is that there is an unnaturally big gap between the bottom of the sump and the cradle. Can't figure out why unless it has something to do with maneuvering the engine or removal of a sub-assembly without downing the entire unit. Can't be to clear the sump drain bolts for oil changes ... but it's intriguing for sure. It definitely reduces a lot of GC unnecessarily otherwise.

On another point altogether, my initial first impression of a baby Harley wannabe is now borne out by the position of the pegs. Those guys who want to take this bike up into the hills are going to find an interesting time.

Cheers, Doc

Always fun to watch a Royal Enfield presentation live! There is some passion and vibe about their presentations that others truly can't match.

If only the products live upto the same standards.

Re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

Short and sweet launch.
Precise and no unnecessary stuff. I remember the Himalayan launch which was a drag by the end.

The fully loaded model looks good. More than anything, I am waiting to ride this bike to feel the engine which seems promising.

From the Lightening 535 to the Meteor, it was a long road.

Re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

They have taken on the Honda head on with the pricing. Hopefully i get a chance to ride it for a long extended session.

Looks like they have come up with lot of accessories and the focus on MIY is quite evident.

What's the weight of Meteor? Even the specifications pdf doesn't mention it!
