Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

I've owned a few starting with a commuter (P180) moved on to a sports (CBR250) then a streetfighter (FZ25) and now a retro classic (CB350). I currently own the last two, but most likely will swap the FZ for the CB500X when it launches.

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

Although I love and always loved Retro Classics, but after owning India's cheapest Adventure bike Xpulse 200 for the last 1 month, I feel that ADVs are perfect for our riding and road conditions.

Hence, ADV for me. (Not allowed to vote yet).

Adding a few photos of my baby ADV

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

Voted for the Cruiser.

After owning a humble [I mean, very very humble] studious and reliable moped for 11 years, the Kinetic King 100 DLX, a 4-stroke, foot operated 4-gear bike [bought on Dec 2005 on recommendation by the unforgettable genius Mr. Dilip Bam, or rather swayed by his review in indiabike.com] and then graduating to a proper bike the TVS Sport, another 100cc commuter bike from 2015 till 2017 [both co-existed for a couple of months], I have now settled for a 220cc Bajaj Avenger Street which is by far the most comfortable and eager bike. Also due to my height, it is the only bike [along with the King 100] that allows me to land both my feet on ground when stationary.

Hence the cruisers get my vote for their low slung ride height compared to other bikes.

Also as an off-topic, after feeling the comfort of its handlebars, I have started disliking the clip-on handlebars and at the same time, those on the Avenger Cruise and other chopper type cruisers seem to be overkill.

Every Motorcycle is built for a purpose and I for one can't really choose between all these styles.
I love every Motorcycle, don't we all?

Having owned a street commuter (first gen Fazer), a kind of cruiser (Iron 883), a retro classic (Interceptor 650), neo retro/street naked (svartpilen 250), adventure sport (Tiger 800), and our very own Indian Dirt bike (Hero Xpulse)

But if I have to, I can say that in my opinion, for our kind of roads in India I'd choose ADV Tourer as my preferred style, its one category that can do it all on our roads or the lack thereof. It can go anywhere and everywhere you can think of taking it.

I also choose the xpulse over anything for city rides/commuting. It is light & easy and absorbs every bump our roads throw its way.

P.s I still cant vote

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

Chose sports bikes.

But was contemplating why I have never liked long rides:
- Maybe I have never ridden a pure cruiser to like them
- Couple of days of riding in the rain, in Goa, on an Avenger, maybe the bike itself was a poor one
- Maybe, I got scared when I went for a long ride on my R15 with the likes of Triumph 900/ and the big Dukes
- Maybe I don't like riding at speeds
- Maybe I like the car more
- Maybe, the first kick start on the Continental GT threw me off, and it was even switching off once in a while, which wasn't even serviced for a year

- And then how much I liked the R15 of my friends, that I wanted to buy one immediately.
- I liked the V2 so much that I started hating the V3 as soon as it was launched, and rushed to buy the V2 S, when the news came that they were stopping it

So, the rest is history. I have been progressively bending forward, and I am liking it

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

My pick would be DIRT bike all the way. Although I can’t vote, but l should let the small bunch that picked dirt know that they are not alone.
Unfortunately there aren't any reasonable good options in our market, not even close to it.
Having ridden Honda XR 250 & XL 185 around mountains tackling remote trails has been the best experience.
Disappointed that Kawasaki and Suzuki had their dirt bikes priced over 8 Lakhs and they were not road worthy too.

You have got the Impulse done tastefully. Did you get a different suspension on it? Have you been able to tune out some more torque from this engine?
Please share your experience and information on your Impulse modification.

Thanks man, glad you liked it, I have put on the Rally Kit, The front fork now has a travel of 250 mm, 60 mm more than stock and the rear shock provides 220mm travel which is 50 mm more than stock.
I am a newbie to dirt/trail riding so right now im okay with the Performance, however, I have plans for a Performance exhaust, a Performance air intake and a rear 42T sprocket.
Once I outgrow this, Ill get a bigbore kit installed.

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

I have always loved the Indian 'Retro Classic' the Royal Enfield. So, voted for it.

Had a pre-worshipped one during college days. Used to love slow cruising @ around 50kmph enjoying the sound notes. But with changing times, had to let it go.

Once in professional life, got a nasty back injury. Since then I can't ride more than couple of kms. So, gave up on the dream of 'Bullet'.

Last year, my brother bought joy to the family, 'the Royal Enfield'. I am in love again, though I can't ride it to my heart's content. Here are some pics :

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

Voted for Adventure Tourer because that's what I believe is a do it all motorcycle for my purpose.

Long distance, high speeds, carry luggage, pillion sometimes, will tackle bad roads, bit of off-roading, weekend ride, monthly ride, yearly rider, you name it!

I think middle weight 600-800 CC bikes are the most suited to the Indian riding conditions.
Companies should bring in more of these.

However, for my daily office, I would pick the commuter over any. Currently, I ride a CBR250R, it feels like a sports commuter tho.

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

My choice any day would be a Retro Classic, though my riding days have well and truly ridden into the sunset, with age that's been riding pillion all along, now taking over. Perhaps, precisely for that matter, anything retro will always have my vote.

My childhood rides (riding pillion of course) were on true classics like the 1960s models of the Royal Enfield Bullet and Ideal Jawa - of the cast-iron construction, ferocious kick-backs, squirting oil and whimsical temperament lineage.

My personal rides over the years have been bikes that have gone on to become classics, like the Escorts Yamaha RX100, Ind-Suzuki AX100, Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun, and most recently, the Yamaha FZ. There's something about the simple, non-fussy design, dependable everyday performance and timeless beauty that draws one to the Retro Classics.

In the present era, I would love to own the Royal Enfield Classic 350 or the Triumph Bonneville T100 Black (the heart does insane double-somersaults when I see them), but since I clearly don't see that happening, I will let the classics quietly ride down the retro memory lane.

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

Voted Retro Classic. I hardly ride above 100 kph and for me its the way the bike makes you feel than anything else. I love Cruisers and Sport torturers too.

Not a big fan of sports bikes though and not a KTM fan either, don't like something that's always peaky and jumping on me all the time.

This is what I ride currently:

Whenever I`m in a country where Motorcycles are rare, I would like to own a classic motorbike - single seater because my wife wont trust me with it.

Re: Your preferred motorcycle style

My pick in order would be-
1- Adventure Tourer/sports tourer- for all long distance travel be it roads, no roads plus the inherent way it is designed to take on some abuse. Hope to own an African Twin some day.
2- Retro Classic- I am sort of an ol skool guy and believe in mechanical maximum, electrical minimum. Big fan of naked look and round headlights with engine protruding out of the frame types. Would love to own one, just for those breakfast rides. Planning to buy the INT 650. Also planning to pick a Machismo 500 and restore it myself.
Cruisers and sports bikes, never been a fan of one thanks to the riding position. Tried riding a cruiser for a day, never felt home. Rode a sports bike, ended up with a bad pain near the neck bone.
