2021 TVS Star City Plus teased ahead of launch

TVS has released a teaser image of the Star City Plus commuter bike as it gears up to launch it in the Indian market.

The teaser image suggests that the Star City Plus could be offered in an all-black colour option. It will be equipped with an LED headlight that appears to have a silver surround and a small visor on top. The bike will also get clear lens turn indicators and a single piece seat.

The 2021 Star City Plus is likely to be powered by the same 109cc, single-cylinder engine as before. This unit puts out 8.08 BHP and 8.7 Nm and comes paired with a 4-speed gearbox.

The bike will be equipped with telescopic fork suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear as well as drum brakes at both ends.

As a big fan of frugal and basic commuter bikes, I hope they get rid of the ghastly stickers and give us something clean looking. But, I guess that won't happen because this is pitted against Hero's Passion, an equally over-stickered bike.

Didn't Richard Hammond use a Star City in an episode of The Grand Tour?

Most awaited launch. Go ahead TVS. When you sell it I cannot identify one on road for sure. But I'm interested in knowing mileage. Mileage should be important given petrol prices and I guess will be atleast 100 kmpl !

One more menace on the road with LED bulbs that will be focused on the oncoming vehicles and trees.

More than a necessity, it has become a feature that manufacturers can boast of having on their scooters/bikes. In reality, if only these lights were half as useful would mean having a great riding experience at nights too.

I have nothing against TVS or Star City but these LED headlamps get on my nerves.

In addition, large number of buyers are installing pair of round LED fog lamps as auxiliary lights on each side on the crash guards, aimed squarely at eye level of incoming traffic. New addition to so many nuisances on our roads already.

I agree. I love how the old standard Hero Splendour looks (with spoke wheels of course) once the stickers are of. The basic shape and profile looks really nice.

I'm probably biased because this was the kind of motorcycle I learned to ride with. But without the garish stickers, it has a classic utilitarian charm, and with its low weight its really fun to chuck around.

Pity that they feel the need to slather on ugly stickers. I always feel like removing the stickers on my motorcycle - but I'm afraid of removing the clear coat and damaging the paint.
