I was thinking the same. It may be easy to get a public charging point now. In 3-5 years the scene will be very different.

The current hi-rise apartments do not have this on offer. It comes down to the builders to find a solution to vehicle charging. The Electric meter of the individual and his parking slot may not be close enough to run a line from the meter. Additionally, the fire hazard and the necessary safety measures may make it too much of an expense for people living in the current hi-rise buildings.

There are a few solutions one can think of. None of them are cheap.

It's the old apartments that has more problems. Many people managing the RWA don't have open mindsets and just resist any change. Eventually they have to change but till then it is a struggle for those residents who want to own an EV in these apartments.
Agree that the common charging points may not be a solution going forward when EV density increases. At best an apartment should keep only one or two for visitors.

Old apartments has this problem but needs a safe and standard solution.

Example, ours is a stilt parking at ground level. Children also play in this level. Every parking slot will need to pull in wires from their meter boxes. If not done properly with safety factor like MCBs, adequate wire gauge, proper bunching of wires etc., this can be a fire safety hazard. Also there is a strict restriction not to drill anything into the pillars for structural safety.

Ola Electric launches its first Hypercharger ahead of test rides.

Bhavish Aggarwal took to Twitter to share the images of a Yellow S1 e-scooter being charged by its Hypercharger.

He has also mentioned he rode to OLA factory from BTM Layout / Banashankari in Bangalore, some 123 km one way. Good to know a real-world mileage of nearly 130kms on the S1. The S1 Pro will have more to offer.

The tire tread pattern is among the coolest I have seen.

There is an elevation change of 460 meters, he cannot do the return trip with 100% charging, atleast with the S1. I believe real world range of 90-100kms for S1.

It would be better for old apartments to install few paid charger points so that not everyone needs to install charger at their parking spots, will also solve issue of drawing wires to their spots. Maybe have 1 every 5-6 parking spots with sufficiently long cable ? I remember seeing some companies now offering those solutions to retrofit to older buildings

Re: Ola's made-in-India Electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 99,999

This is the email I got from Ola 4 days ago.

Name: Screenshot 20211026 112243.JPG
Views: 243
Size: 52.4 KB

Test rides begin on November 10, 2021 (if not postponed once again). We can pay the balance amount starting November 10, 2021. Delivery window of November 1-November 30, 2021 remains unchanged.
When the payment can be made only after November 10, how can the delivery window start from November 1?

Don’t people proofread these communication emails before sending them out! Anyway waiting to see what happens on November 10, 2021

Edit: Something else that I didn't understand in this email...If someone cancels purchase and had opted for finance, bank will deduct processing fee it seems.
On one side, when the purchase has not even gone through, what financing processing fees are they talking about? On the other side, this was not informed earlier which is sad

This sort of thing can happen when we have to deal everything with 'online' especially for vehicle purchase. We have no other source of information other than the manufacturer and either you believe them or not all depends.

Anyhow, they already got a large amount of money with them (advance payment received from prospective buyers) which is more than sufficient to produce numbers of scooters.

Hope they start deliveries within this year, at least in major cities.

Re: Ola's made-in-India Electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 99,999

I was browsing multiple e scooter websites and while Ather and Chetak looks really good, I'm somehow not able to justify their price. Compared to that this Ola scooter appealed to me the most - given it's clean design. Could anyone please help me understand the differences between the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro models ? Other than battery capacity and performance, what else distinguishes the two models ? I'm in no hurry to get one, just curious to understand the differences.

So, it seems only 3 features not available in S1 variant, i.e. Hill hold, cruise control and Voice assistant.

Are these 3 features being a must in two wheelers - if you ask me, I don't find any benefit of having these features. May be only those who ride long distance daily may get some benefit and enjoy these features but not for all.

^^ I have no use for them either. I booked the pro variant only for the higher top speed and longer range. I don't ride very fast or very long, but it will be nice to have those two features!

Same here. The main advantage of Pro is that you will charge the vehicle once in 2 to 4 days depending on your usage. The number of charge cycles the scooter undergoes will be lower than the S1.

IMO, that will give a longer battery life too.
