Retro-scrambler motorcycle with dual exhaust spotted | Seems to be a new Yezdi

A new camouflaged prototype of a retro-classic scrambler was spotted during testing. While the identity of the test mule was concealed, there are some strong clues which point towards it being the upcoming Yezdi motorcycle under Classic Legends. It could also be the Jawa Scrambler that is currently in the works. From the crankcase design it seems to be quite similar to previous day’s Yezdi.

It looks Jawa-ish scrambler. Yezdi had a rectangular tank which was its characteristic feature. This one looks to have a round tank. I must admit that the crank case sure looks Yezdi-ish.

Looks like the kid of the Vitpilen and the Jawa 42

If that is a Yezdi, I will be very disappointed. My grandad had one and it was unmistakable

A birdie told me that, this scrambler will not only revive the Yezdi brand but will also sport the legendary "Roadking" name.

I really miss the kick and gear on the same side. Have find memories of the exhaust sound and the laid back seat posture.

I have the fondest memories of riding my friend’s Roadking during my college years. Personally I am disappointed at the overall Jawa launch so it only worries me if they are now launching the legendary Roadking brand name.

Definitely looks to be from the Classic Legends stable. The engine, rear shock absorbers (the reservoir) and the radiator clearly seem to be Jawa. Could well be the Yezdi / Roadking

Trademark application for 'Yezdi Roadking' name filed

Yezdi has filed a trademark application for the 'Yezdi Roadking' name. The company has also applied for the website name trademark.

It's no secret that the Yezdi brand is going to make a comeback. Classic Legends is resurrecting the brand and the first model is likely to be a scrambler-style motorcycle.

In March this year, a prototype of this bike was spotted on the Pune-Nashik Highway. It had a circular headlamp and telescopic forks with rubber gaiters at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bike was equipped with wire spoke wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres.

From the spy images, it appeared that the bike was powered by a Jawa engine. It had a similar engine block and oil cooler setup. However, technical details about this bike are still unknown.

Re: Retro-scrambler motorcycle with dual exhaust spotted | Seems to be a new Yezdi

I can just hope that they do not spoil another legendary nameplate. Classic Legends is extremely poor in launching and marketing new products. Still remember how they built hype for Jawa motorcycles and could not deliver it to customers even months after the launch. Even after that, the poor fit and finish on even their dealership motorcycles was clearly visible. Jawa dealership opened in my city last year in November. What I could not believe was that there was literally no advertising at all. Just one hoarding in the entire city, that too near the dealership which was out of the city area. The (cringey) tagline was "Daddy is coming".

I hope that they get things right this time. With Jawa, they could not even get 10% of their expected sales.

Re: Retro-scrambler motorcycle with dual exhaust spotted | Seems to be a new Yezdi

I hope they are able to bring in a different engine. A twin would be desirable but am sure it's going to be the same Jawa engine. Don't know why they are not bringing the engines in their international portfolio.

Jawa or Yezdi - the engine mattered. That twin exhaust 2 stroke single cylinder engine had a fan club of its own. It's difficult to have the same sound with so many legislations in place.

Re: Retro-scrambler motorcycle with dual exhaust spotted | Seems to be a new Yezdi

The styling of the Jawa was spot on and did proper homage to the original visually. Sadly that engine really didn’t/doesn’t, particularly with the variety of options available to buyers today. Retro styling is a lovely thing but you can no longer get away with purely show and little go. At least not if you want to do volumes. Customers have way too much choice these days.

If they do this with the Roadking too, I’ll be even more disappointed. Mind you, the pics above do no justice at all to the original.

This is welcome news for Yezdi fan like me. I am still a skeptic when it comes to the execution from Mahindra. I am not able to figure out if this bike will be launched under Jawa or Yezdi nameplate.
