Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

In photos that Red alloys are looking gawdy and the front mud guard, maybe it's the light, but if that is how they look, I am staying clear of them. Even the racing graphics seem to be overdone.

I kind of like the race edition paint. A fair mid-life update for the bike. Good to see they have made the kit available for older model as well.

The red alloy seem to be shared with the G310R as well - not sure I like it. It definitely looks better than on thr BMW.

Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

Here are some additional details that were being circulated on Whatsapp. These are very impressive moves from TVS to differentiate the RR310 from the pack. That Dynamic Kit is a steal at Rs 12,000. I would suggest that anyone buying the new RR310 takes that without a second's hesitation. You may not use it out of the box, but down the line you will be happy that you took the adjustable suspension components.

Thankfully the red alloy wheel is an optional extra!

100 units per month sounds like a marketing gimmick. The bikes wasnt setting the sales charts on fire and this looks a way to build hype around the product.

Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

While the price has increased marginally, it's still lower than BMW G 310 R and with all the features that RR310 has, it makes its BMW sibling appear really bare bones.
TVS has to make better experience for its (prospect) customers at all levels. Customisation website is still slow and specs sheet has typo in 'fuel' capacity.

Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

Sorry for my noob question, and for the lack of knowledge in motorcycles, how similar is this bike and the BMW 310 twins ? Is this like Creta and Seltos ? Or are there major differences between two ? I mean no offense to owners of these bikes, just want to get more information on this.

I think only the engine, chassis and brakes are same between BMW and TVS.

TVS got better and colour instrumentation, fully adjustable suspension, some fancy chain, more sporty riding position, riding modes and different make tyres (?).

BMW seat height is shorter at 785mm compared to TVS 810mm. BMW seat height can be reduced further to 770mm as per information in BMW India site.

Experts can pitch in if I miss anything or please correct me if I am wrong.

Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

^^ Adding to the above... There's a few more parts shared like the wheels, swingarm, suspension (atleast with the G310R). But in general, similar underpinnings, but different purposes, tunes, and of course prices and badges.

TVS is the faired sportbike, BMW G310R is the everyday streetbike and G310GS the "adventure bike" or tourer.

BMW is being a bit passive about selling their bikes. But TVS is putting in constant efforts to make the RR310 THE bike in the segment to own, and some of that has also trickled down to the BMWs.

The value TVS has packed into the RR for its price is great especially considering TVS undercuts the BMWs by some amount. Now with the adjustable suspension and alternate bars and pegs, this is a super versatile bike, because you also have the option of mixing and matching parts off the BMWs too.

If TVS had made it a naked instead of a faired bike, I'd have bought one long ago.

Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

I am more than overjoyed to see the retrofit element of the new parts. Everything can be fitted on the older bikes since they are merely component swaps. Even the exhaust. Obviously it won't be the same as getting one from the factory but still, atleast we can

I am looking to get the brass chain when its time to replace my own. The only thing Im pissed about is the lack if adjustable levers. Like for real TVS, all these upgrades and you cant get the adjustable levers from BMW

Re: 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 to launch soon

My first post on the Motorbike forum, and would like to inform I’ve zeroed in on the RR310 as my first bike.

Have some minor experience in riding my brother’s RTR 200 and couple short rides on my cousin’s 2007 Bullet.

Went to Trivikram TVS, Andheri yesterday for a test ride. As everyone have said, the bike looks small in pictures and I was instantly intimidated by the size. I told my brother to ride it first, considering the heavy traffic on SV road, Mumbaikars would know. He did, was very very impressed and gave me the go ahead.

Sat on the bike, and whoa! The rider’s triangle is so comfortable. I’d never enjoyed the RTR 200 wrt the stance so was worried how the RR310 would turn up. But I found it to be very comfortable. The ride quality too is excellent. Way more plusher than the RTR 200. Can’t comment on pick up etc, cause I rode it in normal traffic. Plus sports and track mode too were locked considering the bike had around 60kms only on the odo. What was prominent was how the GTT works. Put it in 2nd gear or 3rd can’t remember , and the bike is on cruise control at 20-25 kmph. This gives you enough spare time to concentrate on the traffic. Brakes too were excellent, compared to the RTR 200.

If there’s something I would do with the bike, I’d prefer a more sleeker tyre hugger. Not to mention the stickers. Good god, the unnecessary stickers. All the red accents will be gone within 48 hours of delivery if I get it in black. It’s as if one dude from the RTR team was given access during final phase of design.

While my brother’s RTR 200 is fun to ride, the build, I would say is quite opposite. Things aren’t falling off the bike, but it’s no Yamaha or Honda. There’s no finesse. Can’t complain considering he shelled out just something shy of 1.20 lac back in 2018. The bike is a vfm product.

But then you look at the RR 310 and you’ll have to force yourself to believe it’s the same company that builds the RTR. I tried flexing and tapping the fairings and they were rock solid. Switch gear are well rounded, and the MID cluster is very very responsive. The overall finish is excellent. Today visited Royal Enfield and my brother came about a tad bit unimpressed wrt quality levels, all thanks to having seen the RR 310. Cannot figure why this bike doesn’t sell well.

Dealership experience was excellent. We were nicely attended too. Asked if we wanted tea/coffee/water post the TD, and all queries responded to. The lady in charge, though a very seasoned saleswoman, let it slip that discounts could be in the offering if one could negotiate. For all the bad rep I’ve seen TVS showroom experience get on the forum, I was pleasantly surprised. Do note this is the top rated showroom in the Mumbai region.

Only negative I would point is, I wasn’t given a definitive answer on whether I would receive a fresh bike, considering the TR bike had 60kms on the odo and the in showroom, on display bike around 7kms. Only during the 2nd round of discussions post TR did the saleswoman say, no worries, you won’t get a test ridden bike. They usually disconnect the odo during RTO procedures, and godown to showroom ride.

Would like learned members to tell what mileage to expect on delivery. And advise on bike and RR 310 specific pdi procedures/red flags.

Also can’t decide between the red and black! Any suggestions?

neil.jericho's BTO thread should provide you with all the details of the latest iteration of the RR310, I suggest you go the BTO way, but please don't choose the red alloy wheels.

Trooper, congratulations on your upcoming Apache RR310. On colour choice, it is very subjective but I would prefer the black over the red. The rear tyre hugger is an eye sore but it is tremendously effective in doing its job.

I agree with Apache RR 310 owner FURY_44's suggestion of going the BTO way. Just take the Dynamic package that comes with the adjustable suspension. For the additional amount of Rs 12,000, you are gaining adjustability at the front and rear. You might think that this being your first bike, adjustable suspension is not required but trust me, once you get comfortable with your motorcycle and start experimenting with the suspension, it will be like you have unlocked all new levels in the ride and handling capabilities. The Apache RR 310 fully deserves the adjustable suspension upgrade.

Also, since BTO bikes are custom built, you will get a brand new motorcycle fresh out of the TVS oven.

Yup, I've finalized on the black over the past two days. Obviously no red wheels!

And thanks for your ownership review. It's one of the major contributors for me on finalizing the 310.

I had actually planned for the BTO and retracted considering the one month waiting and whether a newbie like me could make any use of it. Now on yours and FURY_44's suggestion, I'll go ahead with the BTO.

Was pondering over the tyre hugger yesterday and realized that it looks so bulky probably because the saree guard has been integrated with it.

Only minor hiccup is the dealer said the policy is to pay the entire ex-showroom amount upfront. He said this was implemented by TVS considering some customers backing out after the bike goes into production. If the dealer is comfortable with a later payment, I can book it ASAP. Or probably by mid March.

Either ways, cannot wait!
