According to a media report, Kawasaki is rumoured to be developing a new fully-faired motorcycle called the ZX-4R. The new bike will come equipped with a 400cc, in-line 4-cylinder engine.



The engine is said to be based on the brand's ZX-25R model, which went on sale in the Asian and Australian markets last year. The powertrain in the new Kawasaki ZX-4R is said to have been created by enlarging the bore of the ZX-25R's engine, increasing its displacement to around 400cc.

The re-bored engine is also said to have a new set of pistons and crank. However, there is no mention of the power and torque figures of the unit.



There is also no official information from Kawasaki regarding the ZX-4R, with most of the details being speculations at this point.

Kawasaki's ZXnomenclature is sort of confusing, though.
zx10r is supersport litre bike, yet zx14r is a fast tourer.

The zx4r, if I were to hazard a guess, would be a fully faired tourer. Like the Ninja 1000 (not zx10r).

And this is a trend that I've noticed. The smaller capacity motorcycles are getting less aggressive. eg. The new more upright KTM RC390 (maybe 490)

The basic difference as per my understanding is the Ninja 400 would have been a twin cylinder one, whereas the ZX4R will be an inline 4.

Ooh! This could be truck loads of fun. Perfect pocket rocket, but doubt if it'll come to India, and would probably be overpriced even if it did.

But the thought of a lightweight in-line 4 is super tempting. This would be the perfect learner's bike for a tight track like Kari in Coimbatore.

Actually Kawasaki's Ninja is the less-aggressive and touring oriented series. ZX-R is the track oriented motorcycle.

Ninja 250,300,400,650 are all sport-tourers with twin cylinder engines and comfortable riding triangles.

While the ZX-25R, ZX-6R are screaming in-line 4 engines with lot of tech (track focused) and very aggressive riding triangles. So the ZX-4R would make much more power, will sound way more awesome, will handle much tighter and be much more expensive than the Ninja 400 too.

And most likely, like the ZX-25R, this one too would not reach our shores.

The Kawasaki ZX-4R is almost ready! The inline-4 400cc supersport started making press rounds back in 2019.

Its bodywork could be very similar to that of the ZX-25R, which could also take cues from the big brother ZX-10R.

4 cylinder 400cc engine almost makes 80hp of power. Sounds crazy? For comparison, Duke 390 produces 43hp with single cylinder.

The long-awaited Kawasaki ZX-4R appears to be on the way.

Japanese publication Young Machine - known for obtaining the latest insider information related to Japanese motorcycles - has put ZX-4R on its latest cover for April with a render that looks unlikely to be slightly different from the final product. The headline also suggests that Kawasaki is about to prepare for an official premiere.

Although the ZX-4R is somewhat related to ZX-25R, the design will be more closely followed by the ZXR-10R, especially when it comes to headlight appearance and air channel.

Reports also suggest that the new bike will have premium components, from Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), USD forks to several different driving modes.

Thanks, not that interested in the ZX-4R, but your image reveled something more interesting for me

Looks like CB400SF is finally getting a major update after 20 years, not sure about the styling yet but it is a major step for Honda. Looking forward to this bike.
