2021 Yamaha Fascino 125 with hybrid tech unveiled

Yamaha has revealed the 2021 Fascino 125. The scooter comes with a hybrid system for the first time. It will be launched in the Indian market later this year.

The Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 8.08 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 10.3 Nm @ 5,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

All of this is pretty standard. But the interesting bit is the addition of a 'smart motor generator' (SMG). It offers a power boost when accelerating and also gives the scooter automatic start / stop capability. The rider receives a notification on the instrument cluster when the hybrid system is activated.

The Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid comes equipped with an LED headlight with an LED daytime running lights and an LED tail light, digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. It supports the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X app, which offers features such as answer-back, locate my vehicle, riding history, parking record and hazard. The scooter comes with an optional 190 mm front disc brake as well.

Other features include 21-litre underseat storage, optional USB charging port and a multi-function key with seat opening system.

Is there any disclosure from Yamaha on the motor capacity or rated power of the hybrid motor? Or this a gimmick like what hybrid from Maruti which was made available on Ciaz.

Did I just see a liquid cooled motor on a 125cc indian scooter or is this model for the foreign markets and we will get the air cooled one or is it a typo?

Yeah exactly. Is Yamaha seriously using a liquid cooled engine in a 125cc scooter? If yes, kudos to them.

Too bad they are not that competitive with higher segments, they need to catch up the game has changed.

I think it's a typo. 8 odd hp is inline with other air cooled 125 motors. The LC 125s produce close to 12-14 hp.

+1 to that, their scooter specs might seem lucrative on paper , but if we take a overall perspective, their line up (of scooters) rarely provide something that can dissuade a buyer from other choices.

Looks too make a difference since these vehicles will mostly see city runs on tarmac roads and speeds below 60kmph.

For instance , the looks of the fascino may divide opinions as the design seems to fluidic (at least for me).

For the similar price band, one can choose a mature looking activa125 or a sharper ntorq or the access 125 . All the 3 have some unique features over the rest .

Hope Yamaha sees success in the fascino .

As you rightly pointed out, it is an air-cooled 125cc engine.
Apologies for the error.

The old Fascino was very good looking, but this new one seems very awkward to me.

Re: 2021 Yamaha Fascino 125 with hybrid tech unveiled

Guys, has anyone used this vehicle? How is the feedback? I am looking at a light weight scooter for my wife and parent for city commute only. I have narrowed down on TVS Zest , TVS Jupiter 110 and this one.

Been using this for a few months and i too got it for my wife. Very happy with it. Much easier to drive and feels quite a bit lighter from our earlier Grazia.

How much real world fuel efficiency you are able to achieve with the Hybrid-Tech in place? I see in the other thread that you have turned it off though (or is it only auto start/stop that has been disabled?)

I am considering Fascino over Avenis and real world fuel efficiency would be a key point in decision.

Thanks.

I am also in similar situation. Considering to buy either NToq and Yamaha Fascino.
For NToq, i hear that realistic fuel efficiency is ~36-38 km/ltr.
Appreciate if any Fascino owners can share realistic fuel efficiency that one can expect.

Re: 2021 Yamaha Fascino 125 with hybrid tech unveiled

Was looking to buy a fascino for my sister and enquired about availability of the vehilce here in mysore. Contacted Arjun motors and Charvi motors, both are so unprofessional that I will never think of buying vehicles from them.
Arjun motors when enquired about handling charges of 3000 rs said then dont do business and charvi motors was even worse the respondent rudely told they cant give pricelist.
No wonder yamaha is almost non existent in sales.
