Bajaj trademarks 'Freerider' name

Bajaj Auto has filed a trademark application for the 'Freerider' name. This has lead to speculations that this could be the name given to the company's upcoming electric motorcycle.

Bajaj is said to expand its electric 2-wheeler line-up and the new model is likely to be based on the Husqvarna E-Pilen. It is expected to be mechanically identical and could share the same powertrain.

Speaking of the powertrain, the Husqvarna E-Pilen uses an 8 kW electric motor that is powered by a swappable battery pack. It is said to have a maximum range of 100 km on a single charge.

Earlier, Bajaj had also filed trademark applications for 'Fluir' and 'Fluor' names.

Re: Bajaj trademarks 'Freerider' name

The Freerider is a very strange choice for a name.

In Indian colleges, particularly in B-schools, a free rider is someone who is a part of groups but doesnt contribute anything to the research, projects or assignments. He / she will happily enjoy the fruits of the labour of the rest of the group, without actually having lifted a finger.

Well then in that case that might be an apt name! You don't do anything and just ride it. If that's for an electric bike- no gear change, no waiting at fuel stops, not many replacement parts and issues. More like 5-star of bike world. Ride and do nothing.

This description is not limited only to college projects. Lots of such people in our society

On a more serious note, this name is not that strange. At least one European eBike is named Freerider

Re: Bajaj trademarks 'Freerider' name

Fluir, Fluor and Freeride indicate Bajaj's new affinity for names starting with a "F"! Maybe they consider that it comes with a good omen.

Can we find any similarities with Mahindra's affinity for the last letter "O" for all their model names?
