The next-generation Yamaha R15 is believed to have been spotted for the first time. Two test mules of the R15 V4.0 were recently caught on video, somewhere in Ghaziabad.



The fourth iteration of the Yamaha R15 is likely to receive a few updates, including a redesigned fascia. The bike appears to have dropped its dual LED headlamp set up for a single projector LED headlamp, similar to the Yamaha R7.

The rear end of the bike seems largely similar to the outgoing version except for a few minor tweaks. The bike has a narrow tail section with an LED taillight and an upswept single-can exhaust.

The Yamaha R15 V4.0 is expected to feature an updated 155cc, single-cylinder engine. In its current form, the engine produces 18.3 BHP and 14.1 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Changes: USD forks, Axially mounted front brake calipers, a different mounting angle of the clip-on bars, flared out rear panels, cast passenger foot pegs, cross-member under the rear sub frame, different exhaust end can and a projector head lamp.

Confirmed. R15 and R15M v4.0 are now homologated.

Shiny blue with weird blue, that is some strange color combination.

However, the single pod headlight is what grinds my gears. First time I saw it on MT15, it felt so after market. Here it looks even worse?

As if the OEM light broke and the owner came up with jugaad on the cheap. Why does Yamaha keep fixing things that aren't broken is beyond me.

Yamaha why do you keep on putting the same single projector headlight in all your bikes?
Someone needs to tell you that it looks hideous on all bikes and looks like a high quality jugaad done at the factory!!
In this bike you guys haven't bothered to fill the fairing. The gaping holes are staring and shouting "Please don't look at the front fairing. It's FUGLY courtesy Yamaha"
Even a local mechanic would have put the projector in the headlamp reflector casing.

The Indian biking scene has upgraded from 100cc, 150 cc being the new normal. I think Yamaha should concentrate on launching a true blue R25 (single cylinder in case parallel twin is too pricy).

Having owned a duke 200 with USD forks and now a R15v3 with conventional forks, I would blindly suggest people to save some money and get the normal R15 as the inverted forks, though look good, is a pain to keep it clean and the occasional trips to SVC for replacing leaking fork oil and it's seal is a very major concern to my pockets and in terms of safety(the front brake calipers is nearby one of the fork and if the leaked oil touches the brake pads/disks, then you'd definitely lose 75% of the overall bikes braking and would rely on the 20-25% provided by the rear discs)

The styling though looks amazing reminiscent of the recently launched R7 supersport.

I kind of agree with your statement since most manufacturers have a sports/sport tourer motorcycle in the 200-250cc category and from yamaha, we have only the fz25(which is a very good bike for touring, but not as fun as the rev happy R15, Duke etc) but on the other hand the R15 is as quick and if not faster than most 200cc motorcyles out in India(of course without a pillion)

R15M priced at Rs 1.77 lakh



The look and design of the new R15 V4 is inspired by the new R7. There will be a top-spec M version of the R15 V4 as well.





A new LCD instrument cluster.



Powering the Yamaha R15 is the same 155cc, four-valve, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It makes 18.3hp, which is 0.3hp lesser than the current model.



The R15 V4 M gets a few more features than the standard model. And of course, different colours as well.



Finally USD forks for the R15 V4.



There wil be a USB port on offer as well, on the R15 V4. The M variant also gets a standard quick shifter.



The R15 V4 also gets Bluetooth connectivity and bi-functional LED headlight.

What are the additional features that are going to be available in R15 M model to justify its increased 5000 odd price tag compared to R15 V.4.0 model? I can see R15M has an exclusive silver paint job. Is that the only difference?
