I am sure, no one manufacturer can satisfy needs of all its customers with a mass product, instead there are HIT/SuperHIT products that can appeal to majority of its customer. RE seems to have done just that, Launched a product that might not be perfect to the whole world but likeable to most of what could be their customer base for such a vehicle.
Just for sake of comparison adding a screenshot taken from Kawasaki India Website, I am open for similar spec sheet being shared for other products.
Any recommendations for a Cruiser with good clearance (at-least 190 mm) clearance, amazing looks, lots of chrome, a nice rumble or thump, has brand recognition, above 500 cc Displacement, Ample After market accessory list, USD forks ok not exactly but at-least known good suspension setup, can beat 400cc naked in quarter mile drag races. weights on par with naked or Fully faired counterparts and yeah has most parts carved out of metal, Budget below 4 Lakhs OTR?
I rest my case here, I see this debate going nowhere unless some one comes with a Apple to Apple comparison with all objective points And yeah, that might still not help since we human's have not yet evolved to take decisions based on only objective Data, we still are driven by emotions and feelings.
Hey BHPians,
An interesting thing that I came across while I was browsing about Super meteor was that the ground clearance in the new boy in town is the same as what the Classic 350, Thunderbird, and Bullet [All the previous Gen bikes] had. And being an Owner of a Thunderbird 350X (same as a Thunderbird, except for some cosmetic changes) shouldn't the GC in Super Meteor be something that can be lived with in everyday lives because that's what we all have been doing these days? Should there be so much fuss around this aspect? Or does the increase in the wheelbase have an impact on the real-life GC we may get going through the unscientific speed breakers and pointless potholes in our country? :Frustrati
Just curious! Can anyone give a perspective on this? please:

This is subject to correction, but I believe the length of the wheelbase affects the breakover angle, which does have a bearing on how the bike will handle bumps. The Super Meteor has a longer wheelbase than the Interceptor and also has less GC than the Interceptor which means it has a poorer breakover angle.
I ride an Interceptor and I have had trouble with some speed breakers in the past. This can therefore be a matter of concern, but all of this is just speculation based on what the spec sheet says. We also know that the Super Meteor has an entirely new suspension system, and in my case it is soft suspension that has caused my bike to bottom out if I down slow down adequately. So for all you know the bike may perform differently to our expectations in the real world and like you say, we may be fussing over nothing.

rl: Well summarised. But you missed to add reliability and reasonable service costs too! :D
How many here would have gone clapping if Honda had brought in the similarly specced Rebel at 6.5L and above (based on the other 500 platform launch prices)? Doesn't this RE match and even exceed that Rebel in most of the analysed factors and expected to come in at a much lower price?
Personally speaking, I'm extremely impressed with what RE has done here. When watching the presentation live, I was wondering how soon accessories would be made available for this, and was pleasantly surprised to see that even panniers have been designed by RE. This is truly a well thought out motorcycle IMHO.
Can't wait to ride it!

Thanks for the input mate! :) Your points totally make sense..... And as you said it's quite true, we are indeed speculating a lot! I am really excited about its launch here in India. Once we get to see it in flesh, things may become much clearer.
Ever since the 650 twins released I always wanted to add it to my garage alongside with my RR 310, only thing holding me back was the 210 Kg kerb weight(Interceptor) and absence of a gear indicator.
The reason is I am just able to move my RR 310 around on my driveway with it's 174 Kg kerb weight. So the next bike had to weigh below 200 Kgs at least for me to be able to move around freely.
The Meteor 650 ticked all the boxes, except the weight, which comes around 240 kgs, that's massive ! I don't really care about it's power to weight ratio and that it can do only 100-120 kmph which is actually aplenty for our road condition's. I always ride only between 50-60 anyways and only once during my entire RR 310 0wnership have I done 160 which was for my vlog.
So now my hope is only with RE's Shotgun 650, I hope it gets all the features of the Meteor 650 with considerably reduced weight too.

Referring to the accessories image, i see another alloy wheel with a new design. This is not at all fair. While we - the OG 650 riders have been waiting for years for an alloy as an accessory for ages and have got none, super meteor gets two of them.

please do not wait, but make each day count. Get an interceptor, throw the stock heavy bazooka end cans, replace with AEW Te201 and you instantly get 7-8 kgs weight reduction. The bike breathes better, sounds much better (with or without DB killer, both). The weight reduction can be clearly felt while riding the bike. Dont think RE will ever make anything sub200 kgs with this 650 platform and i am not complaining.

I am not worried about anything else other than performance. I want 0-100 in less than 7 seconds. Interceptor and GT can do that amazingly well. |
To start with, this is a cruiser and from RE family. Don't expect this bike to be faster, especially with 241kg on body, will be slower than Interceptor and Continental GT as well.

In fact, both those bikes can keep up with the KTM 390s if they ever wanted to. |
This comparison is like apples with oranges, can't comment anything on this.

Some people are saying, its a cruiser so acceleration doesn't matter. I don't really think that's the case. Most cruisers can actually beat the 390s. That's the fact. We call cruisers slow because we often compare them to 1000cc sport bikes. |
It's a matter of fact that cruisers are lifestyle bikes and not for city racing or quarter mile competitive.

I'll be frank. I wanted this to be more powerful. Does this come with the same state of tune? I can't find anything about the tune. I pray to God if this could keep up with the Interceptor and GT. |
I say you will be disappointed when seen it in flesh.
All said, this is one bike which no one will regret buying, just that one need to know what they are upto with this bike so expectations can be met easily.

12:33 in the video, Mark Wells mentions that engine mapping and gearing have been changed to suit this bike. What that translates to on-road riding needs to be checked once test rides start or reviews are out.
Was expecting shotgun reveal also along with this.
Any news about Shotgun 650?
So this Super Meteor is finally launched in India. Catch: Booking open only for folks who are attending Rider Mania.
With a total of 5 color options to choose from.
https://youtu.be/UcU8Mpc1cC4
Key takeaways: Will cost more than Inty(duh!), but pricing might be a bit of surprise.
There will be more bikes based on this platform, months and years away.
Just did pre booked at Rider Mania. Seems the deliveries are planned to happen only from 2023.

Congratulations brother, seems to be the first one on T-Bhp. Do share more details like booking amount, choice of variant and colour, for the benefit of other members. Share pictures if you have any.
Thanks
