With alloy wheels, tubeless tyres and this stance, it could be somewhat a trade-off than the imaginary Himalayan 650.

For comfortable cruising stance we can fix additional foot pegs strategically whereas we can't pull back forward positioned gear and brake levers.

Rumour: Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser to be called Super Meteor

According to media reports, the upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is likely to be called the Super Meteor. The motorcycle is also expected to be unveiled at the EICMA 2021 in November this year.

It has also been reported that, when launched, the 650cc cruiser would be positioned above the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. It is also expected to be the most expensive Royal Enfield motorcycle in India.

Some of the key features of the Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser would include a round headlamp, teardrop-style fuel tank, USD front forks, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS and twin exhausts. It would also have RE’s Tripper Navigation.

The Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is likely to be powered by the same 649cc, parallel-twin engine that the company uses in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. It is capable of producing 47 BHP and 52 Nm and mated to a 6-speed gearbox accompanied by a slipper clutch.

Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser to be called Super Meteor.

It will be unveiled to the world at the 2021 EICMA Show in Italy.

Quote:
The Super Meteor brand isn’t new for the company. This brand was used for the American market in the early 50s. The Super Meteor when launched will become the most expensive Royal Enfield in India. This bike will be positioned as a premium cruiser for India as well as for the rest of the world, but will be priced competitively.

re: Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650cc, now unveiled

Why would they want to christen their top of the line model with the same name as their budget cruiser (with a prefix)? They didn't call the Interceptor a Super Classic! Why would they want to dilute the aspirational value of their new product with a name from its inferior cousin!?

They could simply call it the Thunderbird 650 and be done with it. It's one of the coolest motorcycle names out there, and I sincerely hope they revive it.

It is just rumor, Royal Enfield will never mess up with name and branding. All their model have good and distinct name like Interceptor, Classic, Thunderbird, Meteor, Machismo, Desert Storm etc. No other manufacture have/had such characters in their line-up.

+1. Not only was it the coolest motorcycle name, it was also their longest standing cruiser and was also their flagship product for a brief period of time!

re: Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650cc, now unveiled

I think it would be good to come up with a new name altogether. Marketing is anyway a strong forte of RE, and don't think they are going to goof up on this.

I would not even want it to be called Thunderbird, no matter how cool the name was. A new product needs a new name. Anyway, RE fans will line up with the money no matter what they name it, RE currently is the Apple of Motorbikes!!

I think the Thunderbird trademark is owned by Triumph in international markets. That is why the meteor was also renamed too. The earlier TB never made it to EU so no infringements there. The meteor was always supposed to go international.

I read somewhere that they had to changed the brand name from Thunderbird to Meteor because of copyright issues in some of the international markets.

Super Meteor.

Sounds a bit like Super-Splendor.

They could have utilized the Highly 'Macho' Machismo Badge instead.

re: Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650cc, now unveiled

For a layman like me, the lines are getting blurred between a cruiser and retro-classic. Is this the 650 CC version of the meteor or a cruiser like the Bajaj Avenger? I simply loved the meteor in the limited test drive, and have been eagerly waiting for its 650 CC avatar.

re: Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650cc, now unveiled

I don't think there is anything wrong with the naming. It's a homage to old Super Meteor.
"The Super Meteor was a 692 cc British motorcycle made by Royal Enfield for export to the US between 1952 and 1962."
