re: Bajaj Pulsar 250, launched at 1.38 lakh

What happens to "NS" brand? I loved the Perimeter Frame on the NS.

Maybe we could see a NS/RS 250 with Perimeter Frames and 6 Gears next.

Seems like an ace launch by Bajaj, final nail in the coffin of the weird Duke 250 too I'd think. Features are nice, just the lack of 6th gear brothers me.
I think the Duke is little advanced and serves a different audience.
Advanced dual channel abs, 150 rear and 110 front tyres, 13 litre tank, USD forks, light weight frame, etc. The new pulsar 250 twins are going to weigh 162 to 164 kg and the relative power to weight ratios could be less as the Duke 250 weighs little less (1 to 3 kgs) . Similar comparison might also be for dominar 250 as it's a derivative from the KTM.
What could be the potential competitor here is the fz25 which might see an impact in whatever numbers it sells now as the pulsar 250 is little economical and promises to tap power from any point (as mentioned in the launch i guess the talk about driveability across the power band) but only single channel ABS. I am not looking at the gixxer 250s as they have a different hardware specifications altogether.

re: Bajaj Pulsar 250, launched at 1.38 lakh

Air cooled with a 5 speed gearbox and a minor 0.3hp power bump over the NS200. The specs are simply disappointing. It's barely the "biggest" Pulsar yet in terms of power.

Bajaj Pulsar F250 & N250 launched in India

Bajaj Auto has launched the Pulsar F250 and N250. The former is a semi-faired model that has been priced at Rs. 1.40 lakh whereas the latter is a naked variant that costs Rs. 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom). Both bikes are available in two colours - Techno Grey and Racing Red.

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 and N250 use a tubular frame. They are powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that makes 24 BHP and 21.5 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox accompanied by a slip and assist clutch.

In terms of features, both motorcycles come with an “Infinity Display Console” with a tachometer needle, split seats, alloy wheels, split pillion grab rail, and a USB charger. They also have a bi-functional projector-type LED headlamp along with LED DRLs.

For the suspension, the Bajaj Pulsar F250 and N250 have a pair of telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back. The braking duties are handled by a 300 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc. A single-channel ABS comes as standard.

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 competes with the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and the likes. On the other hand, the Pulsar N250 locks horns with bikes such as the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Yamaha FZ-25.

It shouldn't, not at least in the sense I beleive you've meant.

A 4 Speed is a long ratio Gearbox compared to a 5 Speed and a 5 Speed is a long ratio Gearbox compared to a 6 Speed.

The same is the case when looked at the other way i.e A 6 Speed is a short ratio Gearbox compared to a 5 Speed and a 5 Speed is a short ratio Gearbox compared to a 4 Speed.

Irrespective of what speed Gearbox you're using your final gear ratio would be overdrive i.e less than 1.00, unless you're riding a Royal Enfield.

The best example is the GS150R and Gixxer 150, one is a 6 Speed and the second is 5 Speed, however the 5 Speed has a taller final gear ratio than the 6 Speed.

Hope that clears the confusion.

And sorry for the long explanation, every time I see "it's missing 6th gear" as a downside irrespective of motorcycle it irks me a bit.

Cheers,
A.P.

This bike should be viewed as an update for the existing P220, and it is not to be viewed as an alternate for NS200.

NS200 is advanced both in engine and chassis, but the market did not accept it as Bajaj expected.

That is why Bajaj has gone back to its own engine and frame.

I doubt the future for both NS200 and RS200 from now on.

It also IRKS me when I hear someone rant about Single Channel ABS and the lack of Dual Channel ABS.

It just means that the bloke doesn't know how to brake on a Motorcycle

One more thing, in the presentation, they did not mentioned about the number of valves and the number of spark plugs (DTSi).

Any idea?

Looks like a proper all new version of Pulsar 220!

After 14 years, still own the 2007 DTS-Fi version. Looks like worthy upgrade for die hard Pulsar fans!

I Don’t understand why they didn’t went with liquid cooled engine and 6 speed gearbox when the 200 NS/RS siblings have it.

re: Bajaj Pulsar 250, launched at 1.38 lakh

^^
Website's been updated with information about the bike: https://www.bajajauto.com/bikes/puls...specifications

This is a low tech bike. Oil cooled SOHC 2 valve, 5 speed. Standard stuff. Slipper clutch is the exception, but with manufacturing techniques being pretty refined these days, slipper clutch is no big deal.

Cost cutting is evident in a lot of places. Not that that's a bad thing though.

That's my personal pet peeve too. But I can see how it can be important for people who are enthusiastic about riding bikes, but not about riding well.

Anyway, wish manufacturers would offer the option of single or dual channel ABS on all their models so that people could have the option of not buying what they don't need.

Cost effectiveness for the target Pulsar customer.
That's what Rakesh Sharma (Executive Director) said in a PowerDrift interview and I agree.

Anyone looking for a more premium experience can always buy the Dominar and NS.
