re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

Came across this short video on YouTube.

If this is actually a Himalayan 450, then we are awaiting a very interesting and capable machine

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

It is confirmed! Himalayan 450 will be unveiled on October 30- November 1st.
CS Santosh posted a teaser of the bike with exhaust sound - sounds pretty fresh, not like any typical Enfield.
Along with the teaser he has mentioned that he will be riding it in Himalayas in October , the video has coordinates to Manali.
Sagar Sheldekar shared the same video and in comments confirmed that he will be riding the bike between October 30-November 1. So this bike will be at Eicma for sure and by early next year should be in showrooms for test rides and deliveries.

Hi All Bike Enthusiasts,

I require you expert opinion. I have booked RE Himalayan Gravel Grey at Lucknow and the same is to be delivered by the end of this month.
Today I came across the teaser of New Himalayan 450 and now I am in two minds as to whether to go ahead with my booking for wait for new launch.

About Myself: I am an 35+ office going person who has not driven bike for the past 8 years. Always had a passion of owing an RE Bike and go on trips (not sure whether I would be able to do that or not). The bike would primarily be used for office and city commutes and to dream about long solo rides to the mountains.

Your Inputs would help me take a decision.

Best to wait since the unveiling is so close. Deliveries should probably begin early next year. The new Himalayan is going to be more powerful than the current one. And not to forget, the LS410 engine is now REs oldest engine. So it would be wise to wait.

Wait for new one. Even if price can be increased, best to get the all new model than phased out one.

It is entirely your call. The Himalayan in it's present form is also a fantastic bike. Very capable and affordable, and the type of usage which you have spoken of, it should comfortably suffice.

And it's not that people will stop buying the current gen Himalayan because the next gen is about to launch. With that logic the last batch of 411s will never sell.

You never know both models might co-exist.
Rather, with the 450 around the corner, in case the old model is on the verge of discontinuation, you might get yourself a good bargain with the 411.

And any manufacturer after discontinuing a model has to provide spare support for minimum next 10 years. And with a RE, need not bother about service and spare support. CI bullets which are 20/30/40 and even 50+ years are still running strong.

Wait for the new launch and then wait some more for the issues to be ironed out, as it will have a lot of new components. No point in possibly out of production vehicle and struggle with spares at a later stage. Maybe by Mid of next year you will have a decently tested product.

As an ex-BS4 Himalayan owner, I would suggest to wait for the 450. The Old Himalayan, atleast the BS4 wasn't exactly a city crawler as the engine used to heat up, the clutch too was super hard. Maybe the latter got rectified in the BS6 models. Since the 450 is a LC unit, it should be good for city too. Plus you are getting a more powerful bike than the 411 which should suffice your trips to the mountain.

PS: I am waiting for the Himalayan 450 and the classic 650. It's been more than 2 years since I rode a motorcycle.

Looks like new images of Himalayan 450 have been leaked. There are couple of pics posted of the new bike in Red and White colour by SKR motovlogs. Found this info on Cartoq.

Doesnt look good - looks like a weird mishmash of the current himalayan with some retro scrambler.

Looks like the Himalayan has lost lot of weight.

Only hope the thin seating arrangement for pillion, while saving on invaluable kgs, do not compromise on comfort which was an USP of the previous gen.

I dont think these are actual images. They seem to be AI generated.

Notice how thin the handle grips are. Same goes for the mirror.

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

I am also in the same boat as some of you. I am looking to come back to biking after almost a decade though my usage will be seriously limited to weekend errands and at most a Friday ride to office.

Considering the above, I was planning to purchase a low mileage (<10K kms) interceptor. I also booked Triumph Scrambler 400 and will decide once test rides are available. I know these are 2 different bikes and I am just comparing power to weight ratio as my usage will strictly be limited to city.

Now comes to conundrum. I was reading a few articles that Himalayan 450 could be aggressively priced (around 3L ex showroom). Though this got my attention, it's difficult to forget the issues (especially the broken chassis) on the current generation during early days. Apart from this, the engine technology (liquid cooled) is also completely new for RE. If there is any new product one needs to avoid the early purchase to avoid teething issues in the recent times, I guess that could be Himalayan 450.

What's the take of the fellow bikers here?
