The government of Jharkhand has announced a subsidy scheme for petrol-powered 2-wheelers. It will be formally rolled out on January 26, 2022.

Under the new scheme, the state government will offer Rs 25 as a petrol subsidy on up to 10-litres of fuel per month.

The petrol subsidy scheme will be available for 2-wheeler owners that hold a ration card and are covered under the National Food Security Act or state scheme.

Those who seek to avail the subsidy can register on the CM Supports App or this website. The subsidy will be directly credited to the user's bank account after verification.

Re: Jharkhand announces subsidy on petrol 2-wheelers

For someone with 100-125 CC bike that is subsidy for first 600-700 kilometers every month. Helpful for people who need to ride daily to get to work but not so much for delivery people who might be doing a lot of riding on a daily.

Overall pretty smart scheme since it will cost only 250 rupees a month for each bike owned by a less privileged section of the society. Don't think it will cost the government a lot but will get them a lot of good publicity.

Is this for poor people or is it for "poor" people?
Those who may avail this need to have a smart phone to use the app or have enough education to use the website (which will be down) and might need a vehicle. Are those the ones that need the help? And some help it is - a paltry Rs 250. Chump change even for smar'fon holders.

Well I think if you consider the smartphone adoption in India, this is not a problem at all in terms of the technicality of it. (And probably people are already used to going through these processes with different direct to bank schemes being rolled out at both central and state levels). To consider is the fact that digital payments are encouraged and applauded at the highest levels, so why not this then?

Credits where due, IMO it has been directed at the right people and a step in the right direction. I have seen people get petrol worth INR 50 and 100 in the recent days and this will only but help them.
