Industrialist Rahul Bajaj Passes Away!

Industrialist giant, Padma Bhushan recipient and former chairman of Bajaj Group Mr. Rahul Bajaj has passed away after a brief illness. He was 83.

Love him or hate him, but cannot Ignore him. Always spoke openly not thinking about the repercussions.

The whole of India will remember him for the two words which became a national slogan for a long time. Hamara Bajaj!

Condolences to his family especially his Bajaj family. Om Shanti!

Re: Industrialist Rahul Bajaj Passes Away!

God bless his soul. May he rest in peace. Regardless of what views people may have of him fact is he built his business and an excellent product in the era of the debilitating, initiative throttling license raj which ran its course till 1985 and then in a slightly more benign form till 1991. Building a business remains tough in India today 31 years after 1991. It was multi-fold more difficult and soul crushing before that. It is to his credit that he managed the transition to the liberalized era while still remaining a force to reckon with unlike many other business groups like JK, DCM, Mutthiah, Modis etc that fell by the way side in the post 1991 era. His slogan Hamara Bajaj literally resonated with Indians and indeed it was an aspirational product.

May your soul rest in peace sir

We all grew up dreaming to own your company scooters one day in our life. We learnt your scooters and started our passion of driving.

You are true inspiration to us both in growing the business and adoption of technology.

I am sure you will continue to be role model for coming generations and for ever

Rest in Peace Sir!! His success tells about his business acumen but what I really admired about him was his courage in speaking out his opinion without mincing words, when the whole business India toed a given line. Salute!!

An entire generation grew up standing on the footboards of machines he put into the hands of the common man. I still have fond memories of my father's sky blue one

PS: What a wonderful cartoon by Mr. Acharya! So apt!

A leading and very respected figure of our industry as a whole and in particular, our auto industry, he was from the rare breed of upright and outspoken CEO's, a species that's on the endangered list today.

He was also on board of Air India as its director in the board though nothing very noteworthy happened to Air India during his tenure. The rot in Air India was too deep rooted for even a man of Rahul Bajaj's stature to be instrumental in revamping the doddering airline. Mr Rahul Bajaj was also elected to the Rajya Sabha and had served his tenure successfully.

He was a philanthropist, do-gooder and patriarch of the Bajaj Group and family incl Bajaj Electricals chaired by his siblings/cousins who respected him a lot.

Mr Rahul Bajaj will be best remembered for the reign of the Vespa later Bajaj 150/Priya and later Super, Chetak and Cub on our roads during different times from 1959-2001 and this Spartan wasp like two wheeler's role in putting India on TWO WHEELS.
