Honda is likely to introduce the CBR150R motorcycle in India. The company has filed for a patent which suggests that the model could be introduced in the market in the near future.

The CBR150R is a fully-faired bike offering a sporty riding posture. It will compete with the Yamaha R15 V4 in the Indian market.

The bike is equipped with dual LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a digital instrument cluster and a stepped seat. It also gets an upswept exhaust.

Powering the CBR150R is a 149cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 16.09 BHP @ 9,000 rpm and 13.7 Nm @ 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch.

The CBR150R features an upside-down fork suspension at the front and has a monoshock at the rear. The bike is equipped with disc brakes at both ends and comes with ABS.

Looks like the sleeping giant has finally woke up from its deep slumber. I wonder what caused it.

Either ways, really looking forward to how things will turn out for them with this model. If this goes well, there's a ray of hope for us CBR fanatics to see the 250RR in flesh. A beautiful machine which India rightly deserves and fills the void that our dear CBR 250R had left behind on its way out. And finally there'll be some real competition to the R15, which has been the default choice for a sharp faired 150cc sports bike. It has emerged as a real close competitor to it in other Asian markets where it was recently launched.

All the best to HMSI for their launches.

Agreed. The design is indeed nice.

Let’s see how this pans out.

Some observations from the pic:
- Clip-ons appear to be at a comfortable height
- GC appears decent

I hope its priced sensibly and does not cost 3L ex-showroom! Hoping that Honda re-thinks its pricing strategy and get this right at least this time, this can be a run-away success.

I ride the CBR250R which is still one of the most beautifully engineered motorcycle, Hope the CBR150R would be the same.

I hope it stays in the 1.6-1.8L price range. That will be a sensible move, considering how Honda manages the numbers on their price tags. And if Honda crosses this limit, it will again cost them.

Forza,
CRF300,
CB125,
NT1100..

So one more motorcycle is added to the 'patent list', at this point I feel like Honda releases/leaks one patent document everytime they feel like the competition is running away or the fans are starting to lose interest in their product line-up.

Re: Honda CBR150R patent filed in India

Why is Honda not releasing the new baby CBR. It looks smashing, its practical, reasonably economical and packs a brilliant bang for the buck!
I am a proud owner of a Red 2013 CBR 150R which is still going strong. Reliability is the biggest armour for Honda and something that's needed badly in our two wheeler market.
The newer 150Rs have been teased so many times for India, but to no avail.
Come on Honda! Yamaha is selling almost 10k R15s and that should be a good indicator that the performance 150cc segment isn't dead!
