Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Today I went to Motodrift, HSR Layout, Bangalore and fitted 3 accessories for the bike. Front mudguard extension, rear tyre hugger and bobo mobile holder with charger.

2022 Honda CB300R Review-1.jpg

Mudguard extension is not CB300R accessory so it is not flush fitting with the mudguard and tyre hugger is universal type. These fitment ruins the looks, but I can live with that. The water and mud splashing is quite high on this bike due to the very small mudguard.

The mud and water splash was quite severe and forced me to fit these. Typical mud splash after a rain:

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Remove your wheel and take it to some good old puncture shop, sometime the slow puncture is caused due to stone hit or some damaged to the wall of the tire. The Honda service will advise you to change the tire. An expert puncture person will detect the puncture and if it is on the wall (which usually it is) get it puncture leak plug in by old traditional method that is by sealing it with rubber seal by heat treatment. Kindly try this method and it will be much more economical than changing the tire.

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Now Zana has the bash plate in stock and they have side stand extender which is a new addition. Bikenbiker has the Hepco Becker side stand extender but costs a whopping Rs 5200.

I highly recommend the bash plate since the stock one is made of plastic. I will order these soon.

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Today I went for a trip to Nandi hills. However, the weekend rush was quite huge. There was a long waiting in the hill itself. So I did not try to reach the top. I returned midway and had breakfast at Sinchana palace (veg) and the food is quite decent. Last time I went to a hotel called Indian paratha palace (veg) but the food was below average. These are the only two veg hotels available in Nandi hills.

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Fuel economy over a period of time. Ridden on both city and highway. Overall, I am really happy with the fuel economy of the bike.

Also I received Zana bash plate and side stand extender

The crash guard has been installed along with the radiator guard. Both were installed at the Honda Bigwing service centre.

Total cost = 4600 for the crash guard and 2500 for the radiator guard.
Installation cost = 1010 including taxes

Zana had provided a video with the installation procedure. Torque to be applied were not supplied. I think Hepko-Becker crash guard provided that info too.

As per the Honda service centre personnel, the BS-iv crash guard from Zana was heavier. I didn't weigh it so I don't have any evidence to support his claim.

Issues:
  • Whatever weight I had trimmed after removing the saree guard is probably back again.
  • Post installation of the crash guard, there is a perceptible buzz (Old days Apache-esque) around 4000 rpm onwards in the first three gears in the footfegs. I don't feel it from the 4th gear onwards.
  • The factory fitted bash plate has to be removed due to the design of the crash guard. This is was not communicated to me by Zana while placing the order.

Pros:
  • Peace of mind, priceless!
  • Will see if the crash guard can be used to install aux lights and horns

Some photos post installation

Some people in the CB300R Whatsapp group were saying the BS6 Zana crash guard does not vibrate when compared to BS4 ones. Looks like they have not fully resolved the issue yet. Perhaps can you use the Zana's metal bash plate? The OEM bash plastic is of no use since it was made of plastic.

Are there any vibrations coming from radiator guard? The RAD radiator guard I fit tend to vibrate post 70 or more kmph. The RAD guard is not that sturdy.

Is the radiator guard sturdy or does it flex easily upon touch ? If it flexes easily then I think it might contribute some vibrations.

You can fit fog lamps on Zana crash guard. From CB300R whatsapp group:

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

I went to Motodrift, Bangalore and fitted Zana bash plate, Zana side stand extender (shoe), grip puppies. There is a lot of hype surrounding the grip puppies, but I find it underwhelming. For one, it increases the surface area and reduce the reach to brake and clutch levers. Secondly, it is not soft as I imaged. Grip puppies cost Rs: 1900 and they are a waste of money if you ask me.

Please excuse the dirt, it is a non-stop raining for 48hrs in Bangalore.
They charged Rs 300 for labour.

Just noticed some oil leakage under the engine. Need to check. I am suspecting an over 'torqued' oil filter bolts could be the cause but not sure.

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Accessory update

I have got MZS adjustable levers for CB300R through one of the relatives from the UK. I ordered it through Amazon UK. The Amazon UK one costed me around 3.8K and here the same is available in Amazon India for 15K. Quite a difference.

The distance to the brake lever has been significantly reduced

I have installed Zana crash guard, Maddog Alpha fog lamps with maddog switch, wiring harness, filters (yellow, transparent and full blackout.

Also I have replaced the factory horn with single Roots Windtone 75 horn. Now the horn sounds similar to a Skoda car.
You can change the horn without cutting the wire. Go to a reputed shop and do it.

Also fitted a seat cover for the bike. The stock seat is slippery when wet. Seat cover costed me around Rs 750.

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

I noticed that you mentioned the time the heat from the exhaust melted the luggage's bottom support rubber part.

Is this the first time you used these saddlebags on a long trip?

As seen from the images it looks like the exhaust pipe is directed upwards and hot gases will hit the bag, especially at low speeds.

Yes, I used the saddle bag for the first time in this trip. Yes, it seems the exhaust gases are directly hitting the end of the saddle bag base. However, there were no issues while I reach Ooty and only while returning I find this happening.

Re: 2022 Honda CB300R Review

Hi all, Finally brought home my CB300R home last week after a lot of research and back and forth. I don't have anything new to share about the bike other than what has already been said in this thread. My rationale for buying this bike is almost the same as the one shared by @rmvj: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...ml#post5304398 (2022 Honda CB300R Review). On top of what rmvj said, I do care a great deal about engine refinement, all the technology that goes into making an engine as smooth as CB300R. It is like one of those childhood things, such as scribbling aimlessly after finding a pen which flow like butter!

I am relatively novice rider when compared to average BHPian I think. Hoping to explore my riding and bike in coming days!

Do you notice any vibrations post the crash guard installation?
The levers look interesting, thanks for sharing. I will also look to install them on mine.
Next up would be the lights for me. I had a road trip of around 500km over the last couple of days. The lights are pathetic and restricts the speeds to around 55-60.

Congratulations. It's an amazing piece of machine.
While we have different experience levels, we are united by our passion. Keep riding with safety gears, practice safe riding, share your experiences and if possible, learn from AMVJ how to extract maximum mileage. He is a master at it.
