Suzuki Motorcycles has released a teaser of its upcoming motorcycle. Rumours suggest that it could be an ADV, possibly the V-Strom 250 or the V-Strom 1050.



Suzuki currently offers the fully-faired and streetfighter versions of the Gixxer and the Intruder cruiser in India. While the company sells the V-Strom 650XT, it doesn't have an entry-level ADV in its model line-up. The V-Strom 250 could fill in this gap.



The V-Strom 250 is powered by a 249cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 26 BHP and 22 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed transmission.



In terms of styling, the 250cc version borrows design cues from the 650XT. It features a round headlamp with a windscreen and a prominent beak.

In India, the V-Strom 250 will compete with the KTM 250 Adventure and the Benelli TRK 251.

Any timelines for launch? The fact that the marketing department has started work on this, means that the launch shouldnt be far.

Suzuki india is a master of launching replica/scale models here

We have had the Burgman, Intruder, Gixxer(GXR) and who knows V-Strom too all made for india with their bread and butter engines

I believe it will be a pumped up Gixxer and will be treated like Honda treats CB200X!

Moreover the lackluster sales team of Suzuki will ensure this bike will sell in limited numbers only.
So not a really competition to the KTMs out there.

Has to be the 1050. There has not been a single test mule spotted for the 250cc bike so it has to be a CBU import which would point to the 1050.

If its the 1050 it should be good competition to the Tiger 900. But seeing the price of the 650 I have no faith Suzuki will price this well.

I have been looking for a motorbike to buy in India - and I think VStrom 250 very much fits my requirements. I will be visiting once a year for a month and a half and in this period touring on bike for ten days will be high on the list. And then it will most likely be in my brothers garage. This I hope will be inexpensive to buy, and being a Suzuki will be reliable i.e. no niggles requiring frequent visits to Service station apart from regular service. I did think about used Ninja 650 though, but buying a used bigger bike needs research and you have to be sure of the purchase. Sadly, I wont have the time for that, so a new VStrom 250 is just perfect.

Suzuki India has just dropped a new teaser, and it looks like it's going to be a 250. Here's a screengrab from the video. The engine casing and exhaust are similar to the ones on the Gixxer 250 twins.

The question is, will it be called a V-Strom?

Oh that's 100% the Gixxer 250cc engine. Good catch !

I guess the 1050 XT is definitely not getting launched here now. But considering the V Storm 250 internationally is a parallel twin engine even though its got the V in the name this looks like the normal single cylinder engine from the Gixxer. So maybe this is just a cosmetic ADV like the Honda CB 200x ?

Guess everything will be revealed soon. Hope its a proper adventure bike as the single cylinder 250cc engine actually has MORE power than the parallel twin that is the International V Storm 250.

Thats not Vstrom 250, the silencer is different. I think they are going to turn gixxer 250 into some sort of ADV mod

From the teaser, it looks like they've retained the cast wheels, the footpeg position, and wheel sizes from the gixxer250. The side panel shape does look a bit different, as does the taillight and the bottom of the seat. It could be a CB200X repeat for all we know.

And if Yamaha can dress up the FZ25 with knuckle guards and a bashplate and call it "Lord of Adventure", there's nothing stopping Suzuki from doing the same to the Gixxer 250 and calling it "Master of Adventure".

So, I'd prefer if they called it a G-Strom250R because, so far, it's looking a lot like the kind of roadbike I've been waiting for, a replacement for my GS150R.

Agree with you guys. Its highly likely that Suzuki has done a honda here(read hornet 2.0->CB200X).

But if Suzuki ends up giving proper adv changes like increased suspension travel, handlebar risers etc this would be a very good option in the 2L category which currently has only the heavyweights (literally).
