Why no Bikes with AT?

Hi friends,

Isnt it possible to develop bikes with automatic transmission like in the Activa's and all, and provide hand brakes only than pedal ? Is there any technical problems involved, or is it just because bikers always prefer the geared ones and hence it is so..

Probably because people prefer bikes with power and mileage. Hero Honda had Street, a bike without clutch, but failed miserably.

The worlds first automatic bike i believe was the CB750A Hondamatic it was released in 77 and had a proper automatic trasmission with a torque converter and two gears. But it was not a success.

A bike with AT only is a no-no for me! and most of the bike riders.
I think it was Honda which came up with the hybrid model which can either be AT or MT.

For me, only MT, everytime.

Wheelies has got nothing to do with gears if the bike has enough torque

eggzactly my point power wheelies are possible due to high power & torque They are independant of gears.

lol no I wasnt comparing the likes of dio & kinetic :P

Bikers in general across the world other than India and China are enthusiasts... They dont buy a bike for FE or for ease of riding in traffic.. Any Auto enthusiast would prefer a Manual control over the gears than automatic...

This is the only reason why none of the manual bikes mentioned above have not done well.

Technically a inline engine can be mated to a CTV or automatic gearbox

No one would buy a automatic superbike... or a automatic 1800cc cruiser

Maybe in india it may work.. Or NOT

Bikes without gear will be like food without spice. In the US, where people mostly drive AT cars, I almost got a hero's adulation and attention among a few Americans when I said that I drove a car in India with gear stick.
All two wheelers without manual gear shift is seen worldwide as a non-serious vehicle for children. Even push button start bikes cheese me off.

I was asking about the technical mods required for making bikes AT, rather than on my owning one. Whether it is the same stuff you fit on a Kinetic or Activa, or is something else, especially design mods required?

Expecting comments on the technical side.
