LML electric bike spied; could be called Hyperbike

LML plans to enter the electric 2-wheeler segment in India. As per trademark filings, the company has lined-up two models: an e-scooter called Star and an e-bike called Hyperbike.

An early prototype of what appears to be the LML Hyperbike has now been spotted. The image reveals a dual sport-style bike based on a trellis frame. It has an upside-down fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear.

The LML Hyperbike prototype has a hexagonal headlamp up front, a flat seat with split grab rails, alloy wheels and disc brakes at both ends. That being said, LML engineers seem to be using pedal power to move the prototype around.

Wonder.. If the Pedal could be disruptor... Imagine recharge with pedal power.

This could be a game changer if done right. Think about it, a torque filled supermoto style electric bike for the city! Could be super fun.

Is it just me or they missed adding the motors?
Maybe 2 versions - pedal only and with motor :-)

It looks like a hub motor, and going by the size of the disc brakes, I have a feeling it is a low powered vehicle which may not need RTO approvals. The pedal is interesting, however this would be quite heavy to pedal as a regular cycle.

Going by the size of this, I am not entirely sure what they are targeting. For a normal level of assist (like in the Hero models), the frame needs to be much smaller and lighter. For a much higher level of assist, on a heavier frame, I don't see the added value of pedals at the cost of ergonomics.

Will need to wait for more details to come out I suppose.

Reminds me of the erstwhile TVS Luna which used to come with pedals for that extra push under load

Is this prototype even complete?
No drive train.
No batteries. Unless they go under the conventional petrol tank structure. But that would not be an optimal location, considering it would mess up with the CG.
I hope the pedal power is an inside joke and this has been released as a teaser to generate hype.

Thats a generic bicycle battery and hub motor.
