Re: Honda CB350 RS | Initial Impressions & Accessories

After a ton of research and thought, I finally brought home a cb350rs in the athletic blue metallic shade.

A very short pros and cons after riding it for a 100kms

PRO's
1) Good brakes. The front brakes have a very good bite and it felt very good when compared to the Royal Enfield's.
2) Thumpy sound. The bike sounds awesome when given enough throttle. But it is kind of mute while cruising.
3) Mature ride. Even though the ride is on the stiffer side, it is still very good. The bike feels very stable and through rough patches of road it felt planted.
4) The way this thing looks is awesome. So many people have asked me the model and the price of the bike. This blue shade is rare and is a looker for sure. The 150 section rear tyre adds to the looks.
5) Slick shifting gearbox and a smooth clutch
6) The bike is very well balanced. Easy to take tight turns on without intimidating the rider.

CON's
1) Low end torque is meh!
2) The gearing is tall, very tall. 5th can only be used above 65kmph, which is close to useless during my commutes
3) The front mud flaps are too short.
4) No space to keep documents.
5) The lack of BT connectivity and dual horns on the RS

Ending the short review with some bagers

Agree with absolutely everything, but especially this Jose. The blue is the hidden gem of the lineup and it’s has a way of changing shade with lighting conditions.
Selfishly I hope people don’t catch on so it stays unique for a while

Congrats on the purchase. Wish you many many happy miles.

You can get the second horn added as an accessory. Even the chrome cover is available if you like it. I have done it as I liked the dual horn setup with chrome covers on H’ness. The cost of horn is around Rs. 300.

You can have a look.

Me too. I was not a fan of this colour. I wanted to get the yellow black variant (Dual tone). My parents likes the red one better. But when I went there to buy the bike, the only colour they had in stock was the blue one. So I ended up paying the money half heartedly. Now, looking back at it, it was one of the best decisions I've took. The athletic blue is a gem especially in real life. In direct sunlight it sparkles kind of like my Civic Misty violet.

When I asked at my dealership they said it was around 2000 rupees . That's why I didn't opt for it.

They charged me 700 for it Jose, without the chrome cover. It was only one horn unit (the low frequency unit) since the RS already comes with the other.

2000 for a bike’s horn
Ask any other BigWing dealership/service center nearby through phone call. I will try to get the prices again through mine and give you exact figures. Prices of components/spare parts/accessories should be same across all dealerships.

Yeah it should be. Would be very helpful if you could get me the contents and the price of the contents necessary for the upgrade.

Re: Honda CB350 RS | Initial Impressions & Accessories

Hi josephilip,

My father owns a Honda CB 350 Highness.
His overall experience on the motorcycle has been absolutely overwhelming.! (he was initially inclined towards RE Meteor, but is glad that he chose Honda instead)

However, he isn't happy about the stock lighting (headlight) on the bike.
As per him, it's awful, literally useless, especially on rides away from city (where there are no streetlights).
We did try adjusting the upper & lower beams, but all in vain.
The stock LED unit lights-up a like a torch, nowhere as effective as a conventional Halogen set-up (the one on RE Meteor is perfect).

Apparently, the same set-up has been used on Honda 350 RS.
How do you manage with the headlight set-up.
Any modifications that you've done?

I’ve added Maddog Scout Auxiliary lamps. They work really well and are easy to install by any competent mechanic in 15-20 mins.
I bought the lamps, Wire harness, mounts and switch for <6k. You can refer to the first post in this thread for pictures.

Fantastic photography. I got the headlights adjusted for throw. It is better than before but still useless. I am going for aux lights soon as soon as I get some time.

Hi. I haven't done any modifications to the headlights. I rarely use it during night times. I take that car during night time. And your father is correct. The lights are plain useless. But then, so are most LED headlights these days.

Re: Honda CB350 RS | Initial Impressions & Accessories

Fuel consumption update & query post first service:

So just after I got the first service done, I got a full tank to check fuel economy tank-full to tank-full. I reset Trip A and rode for a few days.
The Trip A total was 214 kms before the next tank full today.
Half of it was highway + twisties (Nandi Hills). The rest was my daily commute to office in BLR traffic.

The MID showed 35.3 kmpl average for Trip A.

However post filling up 7.09L for the second tankful, I realised that the real world economy calculated to only 30.2 kmpl (214/7.09).
How can the two have such a big variance?
