re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

Def gonna have to go for the RE Hunter 350. So damn impressed by it, I got my neighbour to buy one for himself (and for me to go on occational joyrides )

The Ultraviolet is a very promising bike and it is capable of winning this title but I don't think the technology is quite there yet. Maybe a cheaper price with the same formula and Ultraviolet can conquer the Indian Electric Bike market, seeing the reception for the e-scooters like Ola and Ather!

re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

Dr Crazy_Driver, thanks for compiling the list of competitors for this year's TBHP 2 Wheeler of the Year. Like many of the others, I too find it hard to reconcile the fact that there are so many competitors but not more than a few, really stand out from the crowd.

Here are some thoughts on some of the interesting launches of 2022
- TVS Ronin : A bike that promised a lot but seems to be let down by a confused design brief and an even more puzzling market positioning strategy. If it hadnt been for the Royal Enfield Hunter, the Ronin would probably get a lot more attention and buys from the market.
- Yezdi Triplets : Their dealers got so carried away in the post launch euphoria of these products, that they took potential buyers for granted. Now they cant even find flies to enter their deserted showrooms.
- Royal Enfield Scram 411 : Yes, this is a derivative of the Himalayan platform but in my books, its the bike that most Himalayan buyers actually need. Royal Enfield should have launched this a year or two, ago.
- Suzuki VStrom 250 SX : This is the third of the 250cc Suzuki triplets. Yes, there is little like it in the market but Suzuki greatly erred in its pricing. Giving a free jacket, free service, exchange bonus etc is of no use, if the entry barrier is high. Also, the quality issues in the 250 platform are a point of concern.
- BMW G310RR : A German badged and priced TVS motorcycle. All predictions of it being dead on arrival were hilariously off the mark.
- KTM RC390 : A monumental flop? I am yet to see one on public roads.
- Ultraviolette F77 : Somewhere, somehow the manufacturer seem to have messed up the script. Will it be a solid product? No doubt! Will it sell well? Im not so certain....
- Moto Morini bikes : Exciting ! The X-Cape 650 looks to be quite tasty.
- Suzuki Katana : Unmistakable legacy and pedigree. The local Suzuki superbike dealer has a test bike but has zero interest in arranging for a test ride.

Which of these bikes excited me the most in 2022? Honestly, only the Moto Morini XCape 650, the TVS Ronin, the Suzuki VStrom 250 SX and the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, did so.

If I think about it further, the TVS Ronin could have done so much more, if it wasnt weighed down by massively muddled thinking from its makers. The VStrom 250 SX could have done so much more if Suzuki had added some goodies to justify the stiff pricing. As it stands, the Suzuki VStrom 250 SX will probably get more votes on this poll, than actual sales in December 2022.

All things considered, there was only ever going to be one winner of this year's TBHP 2-Wheeler of the Year (2022) and that is the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Its got super aggressive pricing, delicious looks, easy availability, unmatched riding pleasure and the marketing machine of one of the most exciting motorcycle manufacturers in the world.

Congratulations to Royal Enfield for this year's win, and I suspect, a probable win in 2023, as well!

The Katana would be my choice as I've been drooling over it ever since I saw the first few images of it. Can't believe it has been launched in India. I'm not sure how many takers there would be but as an 80s kid living in the current world, I want to project an image of the Metallic Mat Stellar Blue shade permanently on my bedroom wall.

I voted for the Hunter though cause we all live in the real world and that would be the attainable dream for the masses.

Voted for HD Nightster. Seems like a generational upgrade to the Sportster series. Going by the few reviews so far it has a very refined Revolution Max engine and nible and light handling. With a kerb wt of 221 kgs it's lighter than my HD XGA750 ! And yes I love the Revolution X engine in its 750 avatar so would love to try the 975 with more relaxed handling.

Voted for RE Hunter 350.

It felt absolutely correct and I owned one to resume my riding story after 12 years.

Excellent torquey engine, brilliant exhaust note, stunning looks, attention grabbing, spot on riding position, handles well, has a bit of aspirational value and a pleasure to ride - a true modern RE.

A pic from my morning ride.

Not a biker and I am still to recover from the shock that an Activa costs almost a lakh now.

Voted for the Kawasaki W175 when the thread went alive and just came to check on the votes. Still at three.

Maybe this is how non enthusiasts view cars? For riding BHPians, the W175 looks flawed in many aspects, but to non riding me, the retro looks and low weight looks promising. Ofcourse, if it comes to buying one, I may chicken out and buy the Honda CB350 or RE Hunter 350, just because Kawasaki thinks that having just one dealer in the deep south would do.

Voted for the RE Hunter 350 as this is the one which appeals personally. I really dig the modern RE looks and the bike screams character. This would be perfect for the city as well as those occasional highway runs.

Just like many others , it was a tossup between Hunter 350 vs VStrom 250 . But it is Hunter 350 for me because of RE's ability to churn out bikes so that people can get hold of them .

Also, designing a bike for an enthusiast is relatively straightforward (in terms of requirements) compared to that for non-enthusiasts and Hunter has been acceptable by the market.

Hi all, unable to vote since am a new member on T-Bhp. My vote for the 2-wheeler of the Year goes to Suzuki V Strom 250 ADV. It's light, nimble, efficient, reliable, comparatively cheap to own and maintain, soft-roader which is apt for our deteriorating urban roads, quite comfortable for two-up riding. It is an all-rounder.

Voted for the Kawasaki W175. The first premium (atleast in India) brand to step into a sub 2 lakh price point with a motorcycle that's delightfully old school, just as I personally prefer it. Its a pity that the power it has is less than the motorcycles I had 20 years ago, so it doesn't get my money but atleast can give it my vote!

You referring to the Himalayan 450?

Hoping that they keep the weight down to acceptable levels preferably with a low center of gravity.

All ears for the launch, September it looks like from the various sources.

RE hunter 350 mainly due to lightweight nature and mass market product. Hope that most (if not all) future RE models follow 'weight reduction' path of Hunter 350.
Hunter 350 is already showing good sales numbers, hope it will remain in 5 digits per month.

Voted for RE Hunter 350. It looks great, is priced well, REs have gotten refined over the years, seems perfect for a city bike and handles well. The service network for RE also has a wide reach.

Second on the list for me is the Suzuki Katana. just love the bike. Always have been fascinated with it.
