The Team-BHP 2WOTY is by owners & enthusiasts, not advertorial experts & paid jury members. Just as well since us bike owners are the ones who pay the industry's bills .

Listed below are the launches of 2022.

• The contenders have been sorted in a price-ascending order (cheapest first).
• It's only ALL-NEW bikes that are included in our 2WOTY award. That excludes the "refreshed" headlamp & tail-light versions, facelifts and engine variants.
• This is a public poll. Other BHPians will be able to see what bike you have voted for.
• Models costing over 20 lakh rupees have been excluded from our 2WOTY. Reason = Low relevance & commitment to the Indian marketplace.
• Similarly, few niche players have been excluded too.
• As has always been the case, we insist there will only be ONE Team-BHP Two Wheeler of the Year. Why? Simply because we don't believe in handing out an award for the "engine of the year" or "headlamp of the year" (as examples). Some award ceremonies have 25 awards to ensure there's one for each bike manufacturer (aka advertiser) in India. We have no such inclination, and will only focus on the best, most important new two-wheeler of 2022.

Keeway has launched its entry-level offering, the SR125 in India. The commuter bike is priced at Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Keeway SR125 is a retro-styled commuter bike featuring a round headlamp and a single-pod instrument console up front and a short tail section with a flat seat.

The bike is equipped with conventional telescopic fork suspension with rubber gaiters at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. It gets disc brakes at both ends and a combi-brake system.

Powering the Keeway SR125 is a 125cc, single-cylinder engine that develops 9.5 BHP @ 9,000 rpm and 8.2 Nm @ 7,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The SR125 is available in three colour options: Glossy Red, Glossy White and Glossy Black.

Hero Vida V1

Hero MotoCorp has launched its first electric scooter in the Indian market. The Vida V1 is also the first model under the new 'Vida' sub-brand. It is available in two variants: Pro and Plus, priced at Rs 1.45 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

The Vida V1 features a dual-tone tone bodywork with an LED headlamp up front and a 7-inch touchscreen. It also gets features like keyless control, cruise control, SOS alert, a two-way throttle and three riding modes – Eco, Ride and Sports.

The Vida V1 electric scooter comes with swappable batteries. The V1 Pro is said to have a range of 165 km, while the V1 Plus can cover 143 km on a single charge. Both variants can be charged at a rate of 1.2 km per minute. According to Hero, the V1 Pro and V1 Plus can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 3.2 seconds and 3.4 seconds, respectively. Both variants have a top speed of 80 km/h.

Deliveries of the Vida V1 e-scooter will begin in the second week of December 2022. Initially, the scooter will be available in Delhi, Bangalore and Jaipur only.

Hero is also offering a buy-back assurance scheme. As part of this, the company would purchase the scooter back at up to 70% of its value within 16-18 months.

Kawasaki W175

The Kawasaki W175 has been launched in India. The retro-styled bike is priced at Rs 1.47 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Kawasaki W175 features a round headlamp and an analogue instrument console with a small digital display. It has a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a single-piece flat seat.

Powering the W175 is a 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 12.9 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 13.2 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350

Royal Enfield has launched the Hunter 350 in India. The bike is available in Factory Series, Dapper Series and Rebel Series and is priced at Rs 1,49,900, Rs 1,63,900 and Rs 1,68,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.

The Hunter 350 is based on the J-platform, which is shared with the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350. It has a wheelbase of 1,370 mm and the seat is set at 800 mm. The bike weighs 178 kg, which makes it the lightest of the three.

In terms of design, the Hunter 350 looks like a typical retro roadster with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a circular headlamp & instrument console. The bike rides on telescopic fork suspension at the front and has dual shock absorbers at the rear. It also comes with stylish alloy wheels and a short exhaust.

Powering the Hunter 350 is the familiar 349cc, single-cylinder engine. It produces 20.2 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed transmission. The bike comes with disc brakes at both ends along with dual-channel ABS.

QJ Motor SRC 250

China-based QJ Motor has launched its SRC motorcycle range in India. The SRC 250 is priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, while the SRC 500 costs Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

The QJ SRC is a retro-styled motorcycle that will compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The 250cc version is available in single-tone colours, while the 500cc model comes in dual-tone paint schemes and alloy wheels. The bikes have a typical teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a round headlamp and a single-piece seat.

The SRC 250 is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 17.4 BHP and 17 Nm.

The Scram 411 is based on the Harris Performance chassis and the LS-410 engine platform, which is shared with the Himalayan. But it gets a smaller 19-inch spoked wheel at the front.

The styling of the Scram 411 is similar to the Himalayan featuring a round headlamp with a painted shroud, a 15-litre fuel tank, wide handlebars and an upswept exhaust. It comes with a single-piece seat and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

Benelli India started accepting pre-bookings for the TRK 251 earlier this month. The company has now launched the quarter-litre motorcycle at Rs 2.51 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the Benelli TRK 251 is a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 25.4 BHP @ 9,250 rpm and 21.1 Nm @ 8,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The TRK 251 has a ground clearance of 170 mm and its seat height is set at 800 mm. The motorcycle is 2,070 mm long and weighs 164 kg (unladen). Its wheelbase is 1,390 mm. As for the tank capacity, the TRK 251 can carry 18-litres of fuel.

Keeway K-Light 250V

Powering the K-Light 250V is a 249cc, V-twin engine that makes 18.4 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 19 Nm @ 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and a belt drive.

The bike is equipped with upside-down fork suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The brake setup consists of single discs at the front and rear with dual-channel ABS.

KTM RC 390

KTM launched the 2022 390 Adventure in the Indian market earlier this week. Now, the bike maker is gearing up to introduce the updated RC 390. The bike has already been listed on the brand's official website for Rs. 3,14,922 (ex-showroom).



The 2022 KTM RC 390 looks similar to its smaller sibling, the RC 200. The bike gets a different paint scheme and a side-slung exhaust. The new RC 390 gets a host of new features and equipment. These include a suite of electronic rider aids such as traction control, quickshifter, cornering ABS, a Bluetooth-equipped TFT instrument cluster, LED lighting and more.

The 2022 RC 390 continues to use the 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, albeit with a few updates. The engine produces 43.5 BHP and 37 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike also features an adjustable front suspension and a monoshock at the rear with pre-load adjustability.

The KTM RC 390 will compete with the TVS Apache RR310 and the Bajaj Dominar 400.

Chinese motorcycle brand Zontes has launched its range of 350cc bikes in India with prices starting at Rs 3.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Zontes range includes the 350R naked roadster, GK350 café racer, 350X and 350T tourers and the 350T ADV, which is the most expensive model with a price tag of Rs 3.57 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Zontes range of bikes are powered by a 348cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that develops 38 BHP @ 9,500 rpm and 32 Nm @ 7,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch.

The bikes feature a 43 mm upside-down fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. All models get disc brakes at both ends supported by dual-channel ABS. While alloy wheels are offered as standard, the GK350 and 350T ADV get wire-spoke wheels.

Bangalore-based EV start-up Ultraviolette Automotive has launched its first all-electric high-performance bike called the 'F77'. It is available in two variants - F77 and F77 Recon, priced at Rs. 3.80 lakh and Rs. 4.55 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

The Ultraviolette F77 looks futuristic and sporty with its angular fairing and aggressive front end. It is offered in three trims – Airstrike, Shadow and Laser and comes equipped with an LED headlamp, clip-on handlebars and a digital instrument console. It has a stepped seat and a narrow tail section.

The F77 Recon uses an electric motor that develops 39 BHP and 95 Nm. It is powered by a 10.3 kWh battery pack, offering an IDC range of 307 km. The base F77 packs 36 BHP and 85 Nm. It is comes with a 7.1 kWh battery offering a range of 206 km on a single charge. The bike has three riding modes – Glide, Combat and Ballistic.

Ultraviolette has also announced a special edition of the F77, limited to just 77 units. It comes with a 40 BHP electric motor with a torque output of 100 Nm. This version of the bike is said to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 152 km/h.

Deliveries of the F77 will commence in January 2023 in Bangalore. The bike will go on sale in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Cochin in Q2, followed by Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Lucknow in Q3 and Gurgaon, Jaipur, Kolkata, Guwahati and Ludhiana in Q4.

The Ultraviolette F77 electric motorcycle comes with an 8-year / 1,00,000 km warranty.

Moto Morini has launched four 650cc bikes in the Indian market. These include the Seiemmezzo Retro Street priced at Rs 6.89 lakh to the X-Cape 650X ADV which costs Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Seiemmezzo Retro Street is a neo-retro roadster offering a relaxed riding posture. It is also available as a Scrambler equipped with spoked wheels shod with dual-purpose tires, a raised front fender and a small flyscreen.

Both the Seiemmezzo Retro Street and Scrambler are powered by a 649cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 54.2 BHP and 54 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The X-Cape 650 comes in two variants: Standard and X, priced at Rs 7.20 lakh and Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.

The X-Cape 650 is an adventure tourer sporting a semi-faired design with twin headlamps and a tall windscreen up front. The bike has split seats and a small luggage rack integrated into the grab rails.

The X-Cape 650 is powered by a 649cc, twin-cylinder that puts out 60 BHP and 54 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It features an upside-down fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the back. Braking is handled by dual 298 mm discs at the front and a 255 mm disc at the rear along with dual-channel ABS.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660

Triumph has launched the Tiger Sport 660 in India. The adv bike is priced at Rs. 8.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tiger Sport 660 is based on the Trident 660. Being the touring version, it gets a fairing at the front with LED headlamps and a large windscreen. The bike also comes with a TFT instrument cluster.

The Tiger Sport 660 is powered by a 660cc, 12-valve, inline 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 80 BHP @ 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm @ 6,250 rpm.

The bike rides on Showa 41 mm USD separate function cartridge forks at the front and a Showa mono-shock with remote hydraulic preload adjustment at the back. Braking duties are handled by a pair of 310 mm rotors at the front and a single 255 mm rotor at the back.

The bike has two riding modes - Road and Rain, switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS.

The Tiger 660 Sport is available in three colour options - Lucerne Blue & Sapphire Black, Graphite with Sapphire Black and Korosi Red & Graphite.

Suzuki Katana

The Suzuki Katana is now available in India. The litre-class bike is priced at Rs. 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

The Katana is a semi-faired street bike featuring a neo-retro look. It has a square-ish headlamp and a short tail section with a stepped seat.

Powering the Katana is a 999cc, inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 150 BHP @ 11,000 rpm and 106 Nm @ 9,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quick-shifter.

The bike rides on 17-inch wheels and gets upside-down fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. The brake setup is pretty conventional for a litre-class bike. It has twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear equipped with Brembo-sourced calipers.

The Katana is available in two color options - Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver.

Harley-Davidson Nightster

The Harley-Davidson Nightster has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Nightster made its debut earlier this year. The bike is part of Harley’s ‘Sportster’ range. It is based on a tubular chassis, with the engine being a stressed member.

The Nightster features a circular LED headlamp with a shroud around it. It has the classic teardrop-shaped fuel tank, bar-end mirrors and a low-slung seat. The bike comes with a single side-mounted exhaust and rides on 7-spoke alloy wheels.

The 975cc, V-twin engine develops 89 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 95 Nm @ 5,750 rpm. The suspension setup includes a 41 mm Showa telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. It gets disc brakes at both ends.

The Harley-Davidson Nightster rivals the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster.

Ducati Streetfighter V2

Ducati has launched the Streetfighter V2 in India, priced at Rs. 17.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Streetfighter V2 looks similar to the Streetfighter V4. It has V-shaped LED DRLs at the front, a wide handlebar, sculpted fuel tank, split seats, high-rise tail section, and a single-sided swingarm.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 is powered by the same 955cc, twin-cylinder engine used on the Panigale V2. In the naked bike, the motor produces 150 BHP @ 10,750 rpm and 101.4 Nm @ 9,000 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The bike is equipped with Showa BPF front forks and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. It comes with a host of electronic aids, including a 6-axis IMU, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, ride modes, and a bi-directional quick-shifter.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 competes with the Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z900 and the likes.

Triumph Tiger 1200

Triumph has launched the 2022 Tiger 1200 in India with prices starting from Rs. 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tiger 1200 is available in four variants - GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro and Rally Explorer. It competes with premium adventure bikes like the BMW R 1250 GS and Ducati Multistrada V4.

The Tiger 1200 comes with a single LED headlight with an integrated LED daytime running light. It has a prominent beak and an adjustable windscreen. The bike weighs more than 25 kg less than its predecessor.

Powering the Tiger 1200 is a 1,160cc, inline 3-cylinder engine that develops 147 BHP @ 9,000 rpm and 130 Nm @ 7,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft drive.

The Tiger 1200 is equipped with 49 mm Showa upside down fork suspension at the front and has semi-active monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear.

The GT Pro and GT Explorer variants get 200 mm of suspension travel with 19-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear, respectively. These variants also come with a 20-litre fuel tank.

The Rally and Rally Explorer come with 21-inch and 18-inch spoked wheels in the front and rear, respectively. Suspension travel also been increased to 220 mm. A 30-litre fuel tank is claimed to give the bike a range of up to 600 km.

Voted for the Suzuki V-Storm 250 SX

It's a perfect balance between small bikes and one can be engaged with it for a longer period. A dear friend has got one so I get to experience it once in a while.

Seems like a Chinese invasion in the polls, Keeway, Zontes, QJ Motors. I don't trust this model as one day the Importer company decides to shut shop and everything vanishes in thin air.

Moto Morini X-Cape excites me, will test ride one for sure!

So did the Tiger Sport 660 but the fun factor of the Trident is robbed here and the 660 sport is left in the middle ground!

Very less big bikes launched this year. Suzuki Katana is special. Tiger 1200 is Triumph's foray in the Big league and it pleads, do consider it before putting your retirement funds into the mighty GS/A or the fast Multi Strada V4.

My vote for this year's bike of the year imo is the RE Hunter. Its a relatively lighter bike, cheaper, good looking and imo hits the perfect spot for a retro - modern vehicle. The Ronin is a close second, but the Ronin lacks the character which the Hunter possesses. The Hunter is an Enfield at heart, but also massively modernized (yes, it is never a proper "enfield", but it retains most of the character but also combining it to a modern package).

Just based on merit it's the V2, but the hunter is more significant in terms of Indian market. The F77 is so avante garde that it gets my vote , also a bangalorian supporting the local products I guess.
