Re: Simple One electric scooter re-launched; priced at Rs 1.45 lakh

Still, many things are not clear.
Is this 1.45 lakhs after FAME 2 subsidy? One newspaper quoted this price as OTR price. Some people are saying June 1, Fame 2 subsidy is going to drop. What will be the price after that? Also Business Line
https://www.thehindubusinessline.com...le66884914.ece
says deliveries will start on June 6th. Is the price of the vehicle still the same on June 6th?

One thing for sure about Simple Energy! Nothing is simple with their product or marketing or even launch. It's just not simple, As simple as that!

It was mentioned in Autocar video that this is after the new subsidy scheme, which I guess is after the drop

One video mentioned it as 1300 which I feel is too low.

I have a doubt - What does "re-launch" mean? Was this scooter ever launched earlier?

There were multiple delays and multiple promises which were too good to be true(236KMs range at a price of 1.1L), also there were speculations that the vehicle presented in earlier launch was simply a modified version of Ather 450X.

Ex-showroom price of 1.45L is inclusive of the revised FAME-ll subsidy, the charger costs an additional 13k taking the effective ex-showroom price to 1.58L.

I'm more concerned about the inhouse motor and MCU because there is no mention of active cooling, and I haven't noticed any intake vents in any of the videos. They will encounter the same overheating issues currently experienced by numerous Ola S1 Pro users.

Still doesn't answer my question. When was the scooter launched in the first place after showcasing what was simply a concept?

They had a launch event last year and many automobile websites had reviewed the scooters at that time.

Re: Simple One electric scooter re-launched; priced at Rs 1.45 lakh

Many people claim that simple energy has raised the price of their ev scooter by a huge margin which is plain wrong. It's simple maths and not one reviewer has acknowledged this.
The calculation is as follows, let's assume the battery as 5kwh before and after for simplicity.
Before:
The price was announced as 1,10,000 including the old fame 2 subsidy which for a 5kwh battery comes down to 75,000 as 15,000 for 1kwh
So the actual exshowroom price is 1,85,000
After:
The price is revised to 1,45,000 with the new fame 2 which is 10,000 per kWh which amounts to 50,000
Which brings the ex showroom price to 1,95,000
So in reality they've just bumped the price by mere 10k and it is expected as the battery pack is slightly higher and they have to pay for innovation and testing and all the regulations that the government has imposed.
People will realise the vfm aspect of the simple Ev after June 1 when all the ev companies bump up their prices and suddenly EVs aren't cheap anymore.
(Take my math with a grain of salt, this is the conclusion I have come to after following the EV space for quite a while, this is my perspective and not a fact I maybe wrong )

Re: Simple One electric scooter re-launched; priced at Rs 1.45 lakh

Some observations after watching a couple of YT videos :
  • 250W charger is bundled with the scooter at 1.45L which will take around 18-22hrs to completely charge the scooter.
  • Charger for the removable battery and TPMS will be billed separately as addons.
  • Portable battery can only be used for Eco mode(confirmed by Shreshth Mishra, Co-founder - Simple Energy). Range in sonic mode :

    Credits : Gagan Choudhary YT
  • Although it was a production unit, the charger flap and portable battery locking mechanism appear to be quite flimsy.
  • Lack of active cooling for the motor and controller resulted in overheating issues during media test rides, even after just a few minutes of riding. They cleverly selected a very short track with multiple speed breakers and sharp turns for the test ride to prevent prolonged sprints in sonic mode.
  • Regen was not working in any test ride unit.
  • Deliveries are expected to start in Bangalore within the next 10-15 days.

Re: Simple One electric scooter re-launched; priced at Rs 1.45 lakh

While I appreciate the news about the commencement of deliveries, I'm disappointed with the ongoing lack of communication from Simple Energy to prospective buyers who prebooked the SimpleOne. It's important to note that many good automotive products have failed because of poor customer service.or customer communication.

I wonder what it would take for Simple Energy to provide regular updates on the estimated delivery timeline to their prebooked customers. They may claim to have the best product, and prospective customers might be willing to wait, but as a customer, I'm left wondering where I stand in the queue.

My attempts to contact their customer care via email have been met with silence, as usual. I sincerely hope that Simple Energy will make an official communication or send emails to their prebooked customers regarding the waiting period. Is maintaining silence the new strategy for automobile companies?
