The adjustable levers do their job but I found it difficult to operate. The tank pads, sump guard, and the Scrambler pillion grab rails are accessories.

I might need to get these Scrambler pillion grab rails. I have the rear rack, which comes with grab handles, fitted as an accessory on my Speed 400. Sadly, it makes getting on and off the bike difficult for my wife, and I have stopped using the rack anyway.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

Bike looks great and good color scheme as well.
Only thing baffling me is the relative length of the seat for rider and pillion. It's way to big for the rider, and just ok'ish for the pillion I think. Looks like it's 75:25 for rider to pillion. Because of the elevation, the pillion cannot even occupy a portion of the rider's seat even if there is ton of open space.

Don't remember the rear of the tank being White in the earlier model. Nice touch for the '25 model!

Yes! The blacked out exhaust looked terrible! Thankfully Triumph/Bajaj listened to the backlash and corrected it. It is now almost perfect (I kinda preferred the gray on the last gen dual tone options). Infact it would have been awesome if they had done away with the dual tine scheme and kept a single coloured tank.

Now, I need to get those adjustable levers for my Speed 400...

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

My bike has suddenly started stalling in first gear while releasing the clutch. This usually happens while waiting at a traffic light, or while waiting to cross a road.

Is this a variation of the usual stalling-while-clutch-is-pulled-in problem? The bike takes longer to restart and the engine turns over a few times before successful ignition in this case too.

I experienced the same thing today.
The old stalling issue happens randomly too. Usually when I am in second gear.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

The bike stopped stalling after I posted the observation above. I'm riding it daily now and so far the ECU seems to manage keeping the engine ticking. I guess it is rather random and may have many variables. Fingers crossed.

Could be related to the weather. It was unusually cold till 2 days ago due to the cyclone and now the temperatures have picked up in the previous 2 days.

For the stalling issue, I would suggest changing the clutch switch. My stalling issue got fixed completely after I changed the clutch switch. I kind of broke the switch while changing the stock lever to the adjustable lever)

This seems to be the first time I've seen something like this mentioned. I don't think this is an electrical issue. I have ample evidence that this is a fueling issue. Here's how:

1. I was getting frequent stalls lately, and at most inopportune moments. I had filled the bike up twice at a rural area pump, so I suspected bad fuel quality to be a contributor. I read that using XP95 petrol addresses the issue, so I tried it for the first time, and the problem almost disappeared along with an improvement in the overall running quality of the bike.

2. The problem started to reappear once fuel level in the tank went down to about a third even with XP95, and went away once again when I tanked up.

3. The manufacturer's solution has been to rev up the engine when the ECU detects sputtering. It works most of the time, but not always. Not very confidence inspiring if you're crossing a road or making a u-turn and there are other vehicles bearing down on you.

I am not saying that the issue is only the clutch switch. What I am implying is that the clutch switch might be your culprit, and it's cheap enough to get it fixed (I also changed the clutch switch and fixed my problem—it used to stall the bike whenever I pulled the clutch and was downshifting from 4-3-2 to neutral while I was on a downhill) and hope for the issue getting fixed. Old gen 390s had stalling issues, and the majority of them were fixed by the clutch switch. And about fuel, I never actually had an issue with any fuel except regular Indian oil fuel (that too might be a dealer-specific issue).

It might not be the issue here but bad side stand sensors and clutch switches can sometimes trigger the engine cut-off.

Stalling is not new for Bajaj manufactured bikes. It was quite common on early KTMs. I had this issue back in 2015 and went away after a throttle body cleanup. iirc, The first Street triple 675 they launched here also had rampant engine stalling issues. This is not new for Triumph either.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

One of my close friend is facing the stalling issue since day 1 on his new Scrambler 400X. Such was his frustration he asked me to keep his bike with me for few hours and asked me to confirm if his riding style is at fault. I rode the bike for good amount of time and below were my findings:

1. The bike stalls when you downshift, and pull the throttle immediately ( Doesn't stall if you wait for few secs)
2. When you are at signal, the bike stalls if you lift it from neutral. It doesn't stall if you keep the bike on first, with clutch pulled.
3. The bike stalls if you release the throttle for say more than 6/7 secs.

I could understand his frustration and we right away took it to service center. Ths SA guy rode the bike and acknowledged the issue, he has promised to work on the issue on this weekend.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

Has anyone tried installing the adjustable levers which are available in the new MY2025 to their original Speed 400? Is it interchangeable and how is the experience with the new levers? Requesting some guidance on the cost and availability as well. Thanks.
