Mags or Rims ?

Which one do you prefer on a bike.... since most of the bikes are coming out with Mags/Alloy's.

of course Mags look good, but on a RD...... Nah old style Rim's are good on a RD

I feel rims would look good on a classic bike like RD.

I doubt they are Mags, magnesium alloys can be more expensive than any Indian bike. Most cars only have aluminum alloys.

Magnesium alloy wheel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know often people refer any alloy wheels as Mag wheels, but at least in Team-BHP we should use the right terminology.

What Samurai says is correct, a lot of people mistakenly call alloy wheels "mag wheels".

I think what nosfreak is trying to compare is

Alloy wheels vs Traditional Spoked Wheels.

Rims, if you're a tourer OR into bad roads.

i have seen alloy and rims in RD's and believe me the rims looked much much better than the alloy wheel

Rims, they are easy to repair and quite good for touring and they look fantastic, especially when you polish and clean them well.

i think alloy wheels are very easy to maintain - e.g cleaning etc...so it serves the purpose well for every day usage bikes like what is being sold in india....

at the same time, the core purpose of alloywheels - which could be lightness and the performance benefit actually high end sportsbikes...

rims with spokes are practically not very maintenance friendly but as yogesh pointed - can be mended easily - a few broken spokes is always cheaper than an alloy rim crack....

but then they look good only on classic bikes...

i think even an RD looks pretty cool with alloys...( rims maybe only if the rest of the bike is also in absolute stock condition )

IMHO Alloys, though good ones are better than rims. Since they I beleive they are stronger than the rims.

I personally love mags but IMHO it actually depends wat type of bike it is...a bullet will look good in chrome rims while a Zma will look better in mags...

I wish I cud get 17" compatible mags for my bike...

Love alloys!! be it bikes or cars!!

they add to the style quotient of bikes. My Unicorn v1 looks too plain and simple compared to the new Uni with black alloys!!

though on some bikes like bullet rims look better.
