Photoblog of my Kinetic Laser mods...

On 20th of February I decided to restore my Kinetic GF170 Laser complete from the terrible state that she was in...Lack of spares and not being able to take her out had resulted in the bike lying at a corner of my house...
Anyways took her to my friend Anil's workshop called "Vroom" where drew up the restoration plans...
Agenda :-
1)New Paint
2)Mono shocks
3)Engine & Clutch overhaul
4)3 piece handle bar fitment
5)Gf 125 style gear shifter arrangement

These pics are just after the body has been removed....(bike was sitting idle in my garage for about 3-4 months before that)

Pics after the mono (from unicorn) has been mounted:-

Full pic with mono mounted on chassis

The engine (dismounted and disassembled)
before paint

after paint

Chassis after paint without mono mounted

Shockers mounted after chassis has been painted

Spares

Almost finished pics

Bike is done and got her back today after 6 months...will post the pics soon

Although we have some photo-blogs of car mods, bike mods have been very rare i guess. I haven't come across any yet!
Howz the engine?

Waiting for the final pics!

Nice mods man BTW hows ride quality and cornering after mono shock?
Put pics of gear shifter also as wants to see that, one of my friend tried the same stuff but he came back to stock due to shifting issues.
What about filters, bigger jets and engine head work?
Put some nice decails on her.

Thanks a lot..straight line stability is perfect..cornering will take a little practice though..ride quality has increased by a huge margin..I wish I cud fit usd shocks in front to match the rear's quality..

Gear shifter mod was done 1 year back and is still working fine(little snags coz I'm using Karizma shifter kit thanks to the callous people at kinetic who failed to supply a Gf125 shifter kit to me in the last 1 year)

Engine is stock...just got an overhauling done

OEM decals are with me...just waiting some time to check if any flaws with the paint is found...

The bike was a brilliant product with lots of firsts in India...however wat went wrong against it was the company which manufactured her in India...Kinetic(the word is jinxed)...moreover bad marketing and different tastes of Indian consumer led to this bike not catching the fancy of the potential customers coinciding with heavy weight launches like Pulsar and Karizma led to her slow and gradual death...this restoration is a tribute to a great bike and the way I would have had built her (with passion) if I was heading Kinetic's Pune R&D team

Exactly the height of the rear overhang has increased so much that the 100/90-18 is looking very skinny..
