October 2023: Indian Motorcycle & Scooter Sales Figures & Analysis

NOTES:

1: Thanks to the team at Auto Punditz for sharing these sales numbers with us!

2: Only bikes that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

3. These manufacturer-reported sales numbers are factory dispatches to dealerships. They are NOT retail sales figures to end customers.

TVS Raider is definitely shaking up the 125cc segment. They've created a new brand from scratch that is now selling almost 50k units per month, which is impressive.
For all the brickbats Bajaj received for diluting the Pulsar brand with 125cc, they're doing very well by selling 90k+ units. I'm really glad that these brands are able to break the monopoly of Honda Shine in the 125cc space.
The Shine has had an undeterred run for the past 2 decades, now it's under serious threat.

Definitely agree on that! Raider is probably the best looking 125cc bike while the competitors still look the same from ages! Surprisingly there aren't any Raider reviews on Team-BHP. Planning to post one soon!

Nice to see Kawasaki's gentle upwards slope. The ZX-10R seems to have had some pent up demand. Hopefully the Versys gets a major upgrade soon. It has the ability to be once of the most value offerings but needs to be made more modern. Z900 as strong as ever.

Triumph Trident 660 doing single digit sale (6 units) against 29 street triples!!
I thought Trident 660 was doing fine or at least better than Street triple owing to its lower price.

This makes no sense to me.
Could it be that theses are not sales figures but dispatch figures and triumph is just sending display bikes and test ride bikes to all the showroom + any orders dealerships placed for initial batches? That would explain 59 Street triples last month.

Is Trident to be considered a flop now?

How is the W175 selling in double figures? Are there that many people that go for this sorry bike?

Surprising to see Chetak sales is above Ather 450x. Since these are not actual sales but factory dispatch numbers, may be this is the new version dispatched to dealers?

TVS Ronin throws up a sorry figure compared to the RE Hunter/Triumph Speed 400. If only TVS had launched this motorcycle with a bigger engine...
