Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 design patent leaked; Could be called Bear 650

Royal Enfield reportedly has several new models in the pipeline for the Indian market. Among them is a 650cc Scrambler. Rumoured to be called the Bear 650, the design of the new model has leaked via a patent filing.

The upcoming 650cc Scrambler is likely to be based on the Interceptor 650. Its design looks quite similar, except for a different handlebar and an upside-down telescopic fork. The dual exhausts also appear to have been replaced with a single upswept unit.

The Bear 650 is expected to get a circular LED headlamp and a single pod instrument console. While the teardrop-shaped fuel tank looks similar to the Interceptor 650, the side panels have been replaced with number boards.

The Bear 650 is expected to be powered by the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine as the Interceptor 650. This engine produces 47 BHP and 52 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will be equipped with disc brakes at both ends.

This one gets USD forks and the rear suspension unit is different (lacks the gas-charged dampeners seen on the Interceptor)

While I love everything about my 5+ years old Interceptor, I still find it very heavy. If they find a way to make that platform lighter, then it could be a very good all-rounder.

But the Bhaloo (Bear in Hindi) goes back to spoke wheels, expect they'll be 19" front and 17"rear.

It might be only 5 to 8 kgs lighter based on the 2x1 exhaust system! The rear suspension seems longer than Interceptor/GT, can it be retro fitted?

In addition, noticed the round meter console, hope it's from the Himalayan and not the Meteor (with no tacho)

I feel this motorcycle is a couple of years late to the market!

Happy riding,

Royal Enfield Bear 650 spotted in India, launch likely at 2024 Motoverse

It is based on the RE Interceptor 650. It gets USD forks up front, updated scrambler looks, single exhaust, etc.

To be powered by the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 47 BHP and 52 Nm of peak torque. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox

I hope they launch a variant with an alloy wheel. For those who don’t do much off-road and don’t want to bother with the occasional puncture, an alloy wheel is a must. Triumph has shown that it can be done

Infact they should give up the pretense that anyone is going to seriously use this bike for any hardcore offroading.
Just give the alloys as standard with spoke wheels as accessories.

Saw the Bear 650 testing in Chennai today. Looks a lot like the Guerrilla 450. Will be a great city bike in my opinion.
