Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

Was just viewing the latest Autocar video with Narayan. They are expecting to produce up to 30,000 vehicles in a year. This roughly equates to 7500 per quarter. So at this rate it will easily take them one year to provide vehicle to first 20,000 buyers. So anyone booking now and is beyond 30,000, may get the vehicle in 15 to 18 months time frame.

That assumes they may start production on 1st Jan, 2026. They already have the machinery to produce 30 k vehicles per annum and only has to run multiple shifts is the impression I got from the interview with the CEO.

Even if they start production only in the first week, they may clear all the bookings within a year right?

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

I got a message from UV that Tesseract/Shockwave is in display from 14-16th March 2025 in Cochin. I am planning to go some time today.

Ultraviolette Tesseract pictures

The Ultraviolette Tesseract is on display at the Cochin dealership. I was really impressed by the number of walk-ins for this exciting scooter, and the demographic mix was pretty interesting as well. Im not a scooter enthusiast but I liked what I saw. The opinions that I overheard were largely favourable, as well.

Here are a bunch of pictures of the Tesseract (I do wish that they had given it a better name!)

Is it just me or does others also see some aspects of TVS X in this UV scooter?
Given that TVS is an investor, could there be some technology sharing involved too?

Thanks for sharing these images Neil. Would love to hear more from you of your first look. How does it look and feel up close, quality wise (unless I suppose it’s a pure prototype so too early to judge I suppose).

How tall or big does it feel compared to other larger scooters like the River Indie or even the Ather Rizta (if you’ve seen either or both of those in person).

Seat comfort for two up riders from the visual look. Etc.

Seems to be cordoned off so was this a “look but don’t touch” sort of display? Or you could sit on the bike and get a feel of buttons, riding ergos etc.

Thanks.

What's with those wheel designs? Are those wheel caps?

Also I didn't notice earlier that this doesn't have a mono shock rear suspension. Kind of a bummer that since most of the competition is using monoshocks.

Anyways, lots of time to go for this to come out. Would be interesting to know how they eventually tune these twin shocks.

Definitely an EYE-CATCHING vehicle.

So many much needed bits, like the smart dashcams. However so many electronics, I hope its a well R&Ded scooter unlike some funny coloured "gadgets" on the road.

Axe77, Im not much of a scooter guy and hence, my perspective on the Tesseract isnt a well educated one. The scooter was cordoned off, but you could lean over the stanchions to get a closer look, which I did.

Honestly, I was expecting a lot of rough edges on a prototype of a scooter that is 9 month away from its launch but it was hard to fault the unit on display. As an self-professed expert nick-picker when it comes to motorcycles, I actually felt that the Tesseract was better put together than the Shockwave.

I quite liked the imposing front end, as did most of the other people who had come to check out the scooter. The seat, especially at the front, was rather large but its hard to say what it actually feels like, without sitting on the scooter. I would be interested to see if the under seat grab handles (?) would work for Indian families. One thing that another potential customer pointed out was that the rear number plate and indicators are positioned really low, and this is something which will get hit from behind in day to day traffic. From a safety perspective, Im not too keen on the indicators being below the line of sight of most people in hatchbacks / trucks / SUVs etc. I hope Ultraviolette rethinks this aspect of the design. Other than that, this seems like a very well designed, and well built scooter. Ive only seen the River Indie passing by me and presence wise, this is leagues ahead.

In terms of walk-ins and who was actually checking out the scooter, there were young couples, older gentlemen and college going folks (though they were the least), as well. These are people who havent ever stepped foot inside an Ultraviolette showroom, and as far as first impressions went, the Tesseract did a really good job! In fact, one gentleman actually struck up a conversation with me, after asking if it was safe to buy a product from Ultraviolette, as he had never even heard of them. On top of that, I havent spotted an F77 in the wild streets of Cochin, despite the sales person telling me that they have sold a good number of them. In fact, I only spot an F77 once in 6 months in a city like Bangalore, so that is probably saying something.

I genuinely think that Ultraviolette dropped the ball by cordoning off the Tesseract for its display in Cochin. Potential buyers would have loved to sit on it and get a feel of the ergonomics and sense of space. Maybe this is something that the company can rethink as the scooter gets displayed in other cities.

Can Ultraviolette sustain this level of interest over the next 9 months, across all their showrooms? Interesting times ahead, that is for certain.

Ultraviolette Tesseract surpasses 50,000 bookings

Ultraviolette Automotive has received an overwhelming response for its Tesseract electric scooter. The Bangalore-based EV maker clocked over 50,000 pre-bookings for its new e-scooter in just 2 weeks of its global unveiling.

Launched on March 5, 2025, the Ultraviolette Tesseract is a futuristic electric scooter. It is powered by a 20.1 BHP electric motor, which enables the e-scooter to sprint from 0-60 km/h in 2.9 seconds. There are three battery options on offer: 3.5 kWh, 5 kWh, and 6 kWh, offering a maximum range of up to 261 km.

The Tesseract comes with several advanced features, including segment-first dual radars, front and rear cameras for blind spot detection, collision alert and overtake alert. Other safety features include traction control, dynamic stability control and hill hold. The e-scooter is equipped with disc brakes and has dual-channel ABS.

The e-scooter features a large touchscreen instrument console with Violette AI connectivity and navigation. It also has cruise control and a park assist feature.

Customers can pre-book the Tesseract on the company's official website by paying a token amount of Rs 999.

That reminds me... It's incredibly annoying that they make us pay convenience fee!

Even for UPI!!!

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

Had a good look at this scooter. Most things Neil has covered.

Just some observations and pictures.

- looks very nicely put together
- Did not give a vibe of cheap neither felt like a honda or kawasaki
- First impression was it looked small
- For 1.2 it looks like a good pick even for the base variant.

It was a bit downer to not get closer to the bike or sit on it.

Between this and shockwave I prefer the shockwave for pure uniqueness and looks.
