How tall do you think the seat is ? Does it appears short ? I saw a pic of some one sitting in it at launch and the bike looked too short - like the good old luna , even with its tall-ish handle bar. With slim look and long travel suspension, the bike may look tall in picture but I don't think the real seat height after sitting on it is going to be high.

If I may, I think the seat height would be about 750mm tops. We know the front wheel is 19"; we can use that as reference. The seat is about one and a half front wheels above ground, by my eye.

This is obviously just a 'guesstimate'.

That's a good explanation!!
750mm is low, with that suspension I am sure the rider won't be sitting up tall. It's not exactly roomy; found this one of some one sitting on the bike for reference:
Ultraviolette Shockwave electric bike launched at Rs 1.75 lakh-screenshot_20250316155326.png
So a compact little bike with good power delivery, add in sharp handling and this is going to be perfect for hooning around city.

I think the dimensions are typical for this sort of eBikes. Perfect for India if you ask me, as most potential customers are in and around metro cities, and this is probably their 2nd or even 3rd bike. This won't be- and can't be with this range- used for anything more than moderate trails in the outskirts. I'm glad they leaned in on this instead of trying to make a 'proper' off-roader with 21" wheels and inevitably less range. Design is what sells on such bikes for the most part, and they seem to be on to something- especially with that 'duck foot' on the suspension on one side. Kind of quirky in isolation, but bodes well with the overall design.

The image looks edited to me. If this person were there in the studio, the edges around the head and torso wouldn't be so distinct- who wears cap and goggles anyway. I think, at least the head was edited on some other model's rest of the body.

The seat isnt very tall, but I would be more worried about the width of the seat, or rather the lack of it, than the height. That anorexic seat doesnt appear to be very usable in the real world. I dare say that Ultraviolette will see a lot of cancellations of the Shockwave, as the delivery dates get closer and closer but given the buzz that it is generating, I dont think that the company will be perturbed by it!

Generally mx bikes have thin seats. I remember riding Surron once and it was very narrow. Not meant to be ridden seated. But the torque in electric mx bikes is amazing. There will be no shortage of thrill.

If the Shockwave is going to be used purely in an offroad / motocross setting, then it will likely be a riot. However, I dont think that the majority of people who have pre-booked it, are going to be using it solely in those conditions. I would venture to guess that a lot of pre-bookers will use this in and around city conditions, which is where the form factor of the Shockwave will not really work. Hence, my comment on the potential cancellations.

A supermoto version though, with a usable seat (by supermoto standards) would be a whole different story.

Did it look shorter though? How would compare it to your beloved GSXRRRR? If it appeared similar/shorter- like the 750mm guesstimate- won't the SuMo be hilariously low?

Guesstimate is too off!. Here is mine

for a 90/90 R19 wheel, the diameter of the wheel is

90/90 means - 90mm width and 90% of that is sidewall, meaning 81mm sidewall height
19inch wheel is 486.2mm

So 2x sidewall + rim = 81mm + 81mm + 486.2mm = 648.2mm

Going by your logic of 1.5x front wheel = 648.2*1.5 = 972mm

My guess is between 900-950mm for the seat height. I am a bit disappointed even our bikexpert Neil missed this detail.

What you've calculated is the diameter of the tyre; I meant just the wheels (couldn't be bothered to look up tyre specs). 19" is 482.6 * 1.5 = 723.9, about 750 considering seat inclination and tallest point.

900-950 is too damn high. Here's a 960mm tall (slightly squatted) KX450 with 21"/19" wheels for reference.

Notice how the fairly average-tall rider still can't fully plant either of his feet.

Re: Ultraviolette Shockwave electric bike launched at Rs 1.75 lakh

Took this challenge upon me to do some scripting using an object detection model to figure out based on rough edge detection of what the seat height could be and even better guesstimate.

1 - Known value of tire size - 648mm
2 - Seat height including the stand - 863mm
3 - Stand height of rearwheel - 41mm

There is still some angle between the parallels to the ground vs stand and the ground vs seat, but that is negligible.

Seat height = 863-41 = 822mm with my model.

Now let us wait for the specs from UV

I think this settles it. Just a minor correction: there was a trans-positional error in your earlier post. 19" is 482.6mm, not 486.2mm. I mentioned it in my earlier post as well; guess it was a bit hard to notice.

Tyre size would be 644.6mm. So, seat height would be a tad under 822mm. Best guesstimate so far, regardless.

Re: Ultraviolette Shockwave electric bike launched at Rs 1.75 lakh

Hope they make easy removable tires like cycle. Will be easy to transport in SUV cars. Problems with petrol dirt bikes was it can't be transported lying side ways. So we needed trailer or motojack rack. With solid battery and removable wheels can even try transporting in a Swift or Alto to dirt tracks.

Not bad at all. Eminently rideable. Is there a bigger battery pack on the horizon? This on the rear of a pick up is just going to be the bees knees.

By the way for a more visual representation of seat height I looked up Rann Vijay Singhs height and it is about 1.77m or 5 feet 8. And he seems to very comfortably flatfoot in that picture...

I would've pre booked one if I knew the seat height was this low. I used to go to office on a cycle and recently switched to a scooter. I really miss the compact size and lightness of my bicycle. From the images at the time of release, i thought the seat height was going to be above 820mm.
