Bajaj Avenger 200

The much awaited cruiser, the Avenger 200 is here.
What started as the Eliminators years back with the imported engine, got the Indian 176cc engine from the Pulsar family, and a new name, the Avenger around 2.5yrs back.
Bajaj have now plonked in the 200cc engine from the Pulsar 200. The bike is expected to sell for around 74k OTR Mumbai, and comes with oil cooling as well. Visually, the bike remains the same.

Bikers looking for cruisers havent had many options in India and currently, the Avenger 200 seems to be a good deal, considering the fact that the RE Thunderbird is around 24k expensive at around 96K OTR!

Why didn't they give it the 220 CC fuel injected version?
Is that next in line?

I dont think so. And the 220 FI mill will make the Avenger 220 sell for around 80-82K, and i think thats why they want to stay away from it. Lets see, may be the auto expo 2008 has some info on this!

i dont know guys . . .
u dont think a fuel injected heart would be out of place for a cruiser ?

I have an avenger . Though i like the bike , i personally think any future iterations would do better off with a tourqier engine , rather than slottin in a get-set-go pulsar engine !

There are simply too many cruisers out there with FI engines, so it's not really out of place for a cruiser ... It's just sad that Indians have come to expect it because RE has not launched an FI bike yet (but it's on it's way) ...

The engine for both the Avenger 180 and 200cc is borrowed from Pulsar 180 and 200 respectively and tuned for slightly higher torque and slightly lower BHP.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links so Mods/Admin can remove the link if they like. Otherwise, here are some (unclear) pics :
Oil cooled Avenger 200 ...

As you can see, the new Avenger also has a (much needed) fuel level indicator.

It's ok dude. I didn't mean any offense either. My post was informational, not meant to be arrogant or anything. I guess it's just type Vs spoken word again.

Its standard practice on many forums to not post links to sites that require registration, even though clearly, what you posted is in the spirit of info sharing, but not the best practice all the same

As revlimit owner, i'm sure you'd appreciate and agree on the practice too!

[A small doubt]
I am planning for an Avenger 200 [black]. I like to get the engine painted black.
Will it put down the warranty or can i do something for that?

And the price is 70K in New Mumbai. Do you think i should wait till 'Diwali'. Do those guys usually have something special then; in rates or something?

Festive season usually means discounts and gifts, so yes it would make sense to wait a while.

U can check with ur nearest dealer for this, generally i dont think this will affect warranty, my warranty was intact when i changed over to a 120x80 rear on my 180 classic.

Many are driving me against the Avenger. They are saying its not that comfortable as one may think. Can any owners comment on this please.
Else suggest me a better bike as per my usage stated below.
My use is 30km (15 km one way) highway ride daily from Vashi(Home) to Vikroli East(Office) on weekdays.
Approx. 60km (20km in-city ride) on weekends.
