My experience with the Hexa-GT top box and rack | Triumph Tiger 900

I got a Triumph tiger 900 rally pro in May 2023 and was looking for a top box which is latge enough to accomodate 2 full face helmets. Triumph branded one was really well made (actually manufactured by GIVI for triump) but it was available only on 43 Ltr which is too small for my requirement. I already bought Triumph branded panniers and they are really really good. They also be operated with the same bike key.

While searching for other brands in 55+ Ltr model I came across multiple Chinese brands but was not sure about the quality or service and support. On Triumph users forum someone suggested Hexa-GT and after looking at their website I learned that its a Indian company started by some motorcycling enthusiasts based in Bangalore and all items are made in India. After getting review feedback some one user (only one I could find using it) I decided to support Make in India and Indian manufacturers and ordered 58Ltr Top box with a mounting rack.

Issues started with the delivery of the box itself. I ordered a gray color one and they sent me a box with was marked incorrectly as 43Ltr. The lid had a huge gap on one side and won't close properly. Fortunately, I had created an unboxing video and I sent it to Hexa-GT with the request for replacement. Now they don't have a customer support helpline or any other contact number displayed anywhere on their site. There is only one email address and you are at their mercy if and when they reply.

I got help from the fellow triump user who recommended it and he gave me number of his friend who apparently works with Hexa-GT. I called the number and I was told that they are reviewing my unboxing video and will get back. After another week I got call again that they'll replace the box for me but don't have gray color and it won't be available soon as production has stopped. I asked for silver color then as there was no other choice. So basically they sent me the last "gray" piece which was defective without doing any PDI.

Another 4 weeks go by and after several follow-ups they finally shipped the new box to me. I again checked it upon arrival and it seemed good.

1. Build quality of the top box is good with 1.5mm aluminum construction

2. Comes built in with pillion rider back cushion, carry handle, internal net as well as a inner bag (although its much smaller for 58 ltr)

3. Came with additional reflective stickers to be pasted for additional safety

I installed the rack which had additional support plate for Tiger 900 specifically. No Stainless Steel option for Tiger though. Mounting hardware including bolts and spacer etc was provided and it took around 30 mins to mount it.

Everything was good for about a month and box felt solid. After about a month it started rattling on rough roads or speed bumps. After checking I found that almost all the bolts came loose due to vibrations. Eventhough they had Nyloc nuts. Consultation with Hexa-Gt provided no solution. I re-tightened all bolts after applying blue threadlock and the rattling stoped.

After about 6 months or usage, the box again started rattling. After detailed inspection found that the part which locked in the mounting bobbins was rattling because somehow the gap between the bobbin and the rubber below was increased probably due to friction or wear. I had to add more rubber packing in the mounting bobbin.

Last year October (about a year after my purchase) I found the rack plate cracked around the front 2 mounting bolts. Since Hexa-Gt provides lifetime warranty on their products, I sent some pictures to them on the support email ID only to get no response from them. I tried calling the number of the person who works with Hexa-GT I received earlier and there was no response. Sent WhatsApp messages and they were not even delivered. I though of travling to Bangalore and visiting their warehouse as well as this was very frustrating.

I got an email after 2 months on 1st Jan that they'll send me a replacement. Another 1 month go by and no response.

I learned from fellow Triumph user who gave me the contact number that the person is getting married so may be busy. I again waited patiently to get something from them. Meanwhile one of the mounting bolts which was supposed to Stainless steel broke in half further rendering the top box not usable at all. I sent a strong mail to them and one of the onwers replied with his own contact number. I called him and he assured me he'll sort out the matter and send me the replacement. However he asked me to pay for it as he understood that I had bought the place for Tiger 800 initially and now asking replacement for Tiger 900. Again 3 weeks go by with nothing while the top box was in garage sitting collecting dust.

Finally I got a call from their person apologizing for the delay and that my rack plate will be shipped ASAP. I got an email in 3-4 days with tracking link etc. Now for 1 week the plate was not picked up by the courier company. Again I sent mail to them and again got reply after 3 days that there was a problem with paper work and it will be resolved.

When finally after 5 months of follow ups I received the rack only to find that the mounting screws (one of them was broken in half) were missing. Again following up and waiting finally I was told that they'll send the bolts. I haven't received the bolts to this date. They are not replying to my mails/messages either.

All this while, the actual top box itself was pretty good without any apparent issues and I am happy with that product.

Only if Hexa-Gt can improve on their customer support and communication. I won't recommend buying Hexa-GT specifically for this part. If you don't care about it or lifetime warranty then its a good Indian manufactured product.

I don't know about the customer service but the hexa gt top box that I am using is absolutely fine and is really good. No issues what so ever seen. Though the rattling has increased over the time but I think that's the same case with any top box that you order and not just Hexa GT

Where the mounting pins are located, there is also a rivet head. I think at this particular point, there is un even force distribution. Why would any have that bolt head so close to the box mounting location.

Re: My experience with the Hexa-GT top box and rack | Triumph Tiger 900

I was recommended Hexa by the Vstrom owners group here in Bengaluru as well. Was looking to buy one from them and I remember them having a very active whatsapp number. This is in 2023 Dec. I had made an inquiry and got regular follow ups from them as to when I can visit them and purchase the top box for my 650.

However, some things changed and eventually I dropped the plan to get a top box. I still remember till the day I told them, I was no longer interested, someone from the other side would ping me on whatsapp every week. I think I had also spoken to one of the owners initially. The number was shared by someone on the Vstrom group.
