For setting standards in quality, fuel efficiency, reliabilty and low maintenance, I must say, Hero Honda is the best two wheeler manufacturer in India. What's even better is that Hero Honda has managed to maintain these standards over so many years.
For producing a bike (don't forget scooters) in every segment, Bajaj is king and when it comes to cult status, Royal Enfield rules.

Hero Honda according to me is the best two wheeler manufacturer in India..... The CD100 when it first was launched really roccked the market. Ever since they have been making really good models. The CBZ, the Splendour, etc, were the ikon of their times.
But, like Aditya says, when it comes to cult status and character Royal Enfield rules. But, RE hasn't really been able to make troublefree, reliable, powerful machine.... i guess it adds to its character!!

Royal Enfield without a doubt!!
Never really liked the Hero Honda bikes .. but the karizma was pretty decent.
TVS would be a close second. Just love the Fiero

Hero Honda all the way. The give the best quality.

And they are the trend setters.

1st 100cc 4 stroke, took almost a decade for others to follow.
1st premium bike crossing the Rs.50K mark apart from Bullet.
1st bike in India with disc brakes (No exceptions here)

A few things I could think immediately

i think its HH for me.and the sales of the antique splendor and cd 100 speak for HH.inspite of having more modern products these bikes have kept the sales figures increasing.
i had a splendor having done abt 70k kms in 6 yrsand except the usual timely changes ,never once was i stranded or did i face any problem with my bike.

the pulsar may be good ,but just ride a HH after u ride a Bajaj, and u will feel the diifernce.the gear shifts in a Pulsar sukks.

For me it is always Yamaha. Now, dont look at me like that But all their sins are forgiven for giving our those wonderful RX and RDs.

My little compact RX doesnt give a damn to those macho looking pulsars, cbzs, LML "whats-my-name", unicorns blah blah. I found many times even big Pulsar 180 struggling to catch up my RX, till it reaches 75+.

Barring emotional attachment with Yamaha, it has to be Hero Honda. They produce good, reliable bikes. Must say Bajaj is fast catching up there.

its kinetic for me, for being gutsy and innovative. despite being so much smaller than other players, they make all the good moves to take the industry forward.. like aquila/hyosung/laser.. and i think with their italian scooters (italjetta or something) they ll come back with a bang. i saw picx somewhere. those scooters are smashing!

Kinetic? I have bad memories of Kinetic. What the heck, long time ago, we had a Kinetic Luna. What a pathetic piece of vehile. Quality never goes hand in hand with name Kinetic. Kinetic Honda was a hit simply coz at the heart of it was a honda engine. Otherwise, quality is the same.
