So looks like nothing much is on the plate now other than Activa and Dio. Nova is one more option, but I always hated Kinetic build quality.

Go for the Activa, it is lower in height than the Dio.
Also, has a good resale value.

Go for the Dio if the slanting footboard does not bother you. Its slightly lighter than the Activa and as many have mentioned cheap to get fixed if the body sustains any damage.

The gearless scooter thread

Please help me select a scooter for my wife-

Distance to be covered : 6/km one way i.e. 12 kms/day thru Very heavy Mumbai traffic (SEEPZ/Chakala)

FE and low maintanence is very important.

Should i wait for some better models to hit market?

Should i consider second hand scooters at all??

What is your budget? Did you shortlist any options?

Budget - For scooters, i guess 40-50k.

What about scooterettes?? Any good?

Any options - Activa seems the only choice of people around.

Hi ssl2uv108, it might be some time before newer, better models hit the market. I would have said Scooty Pep+ in perky pink, but it would a mite embarrasing for you to ride, if you ever need to. Its lightweight, easy to ride, easy on the pocket and low on maintainance.
So go for an Activa, or a HH Pleasure. FE and maintainance shouldnt be too much of an issue.
Second hand scooters are always a risk, but if you are looking at them, play it safe and look for only a Honda (Activa/Dio).

Would suggest that you go in for a Honda Activa. No idea about the after sales service offered at your city.Definitely a good pick because I have one at home and havent had any kind of maintainence issues as such.
Easily runs about 10kms a day on an average.

Hi ssl2uv108, as u yourself said honda activa is the preffered choice
but if u want other option the honda DIO is also a good choice

If you want something on the lighter side go for the bajaj wave...gud engine

I would suggest you not to go for the scooty types as i myself have had a bad experience with them

@sajo: dude honda pleasure aint good

Well, if you are not the lady types, it is. But since it shares its running gear with the proven Activa, I dont see any reason for it to go wrong.

Go for Pleaure- some brilliant colours, smooth engine and HH A.S.S. is way better than honda. I rode the Pleasure of a colleague of mine in Bangalore and I was really impressed with the ease of handling, weight distribution and the smoothness of the engine. IMHO it looks better than the Activa as well.

Seems from the response that the choice is between H Activa / H Dio / HH Pleasure.

Between the Dio & Activa, which has better FE & maintanence ? The Dio has an oddish shape tho ...

@sajo : Why will newer, better models not be introduced in near future? Do these guys think we Indians are not ready?

@satish_appasani : where is your view?

@himanshugoswami : what is the FE of HH Pleasure?

@alen : bajaj wave...gud engine. What is the cost of Wave and why the Wave over the Activa or Pleasure?

@autozealot : Why not the Pleasure or Wave?
Office folk i know are logging out of cars and logging into trains due to TRAFFIC ... makes me wonder if a two wheeler aint better !
