Planning to buy a Bike - pulsar 220 dtsfi or KZM

hi,

Planning to buy a bike - Either of the two above mentioned. Advice Please!
Usage - Casual Weeknd driving.

i didnt find much review on pulsar 220 on the forum.
I had visited the pro-biking showroom in vasant vihar new delhi. Checked the P220. Feature wise it loaded. They dont provide a test drive. Disappointed as i cannot get the feel on road.

Will be visitng HH showroom to check out KZM too. i have been told they to have launched new KZM with come cosmatic changes.

Cost or Mileage is not a issue.
I had driven Suzuki Shogun and Yamaha RX 100 almost 10 years before.

P220 is only impressive on Paper.

Karizma is a bike that will keep impressing you even 1,2 or 3 years after with it's refinement, quality, reliability.

For the record, check timings of both bikes. Both are pretty much neck to neck upto 100.
Karizma is always a better bike for city -> comfortable.
For highway -> very relaxed
For touring -> Very reliable. One night in Leh. Bike covered in snow. And first choke self in morning and it starts up.

P220 gives more starting problems even in half the chilling temperatures as above.

Final word of advice. Test drive both. And dont buy any.
Carbed Karizma production is stopped and you should be waiting for the Fuel Injected Karizma now which is due anytime now...

The Pulsar 220 that was in our group ride to Ladakh had no cold start problems and we encountered enough cold weather and snow. The overall mileage returned was roughly 50 kmpl and where the other bikes were doing 40, this one was easily doing 70-80!

I was among first 35 buyers of P220. If you want an aggressive driving style go for P220. If you are looking something like tourer kind of feeling go for ZMA. You can search my review on xbhp.com

Thanks for the post. So that means, not all P220 are created equal. Some manage to run well in extreme conditions also.

Talking of extreme, I've been full throttle on karizma for like many many minutes. RPM needle pinned to the redline. Never encountered any problems.

Another friend who on one of his highway tours, did same to his P200(he was a karizma owner earlier) had the exhaust valve fail due to extreme heat. That valve when punched a 2 inch wide hole in the piston. All other karizmas carried on....

My local riding group is big time into Stunting (ClubRPM) and we are one of the top stunting teams in India.
Stunting = Accelerated wear and tear. Pulsars overheat and loose power much much easier than Karizmas. Holds true for P150, 180, 200. 220 Still manages near to karizma due to fuel injection changing values appropriately and keeping the engine ticking over well.....

Why not you ride down to your nearest HH dealer and see if he is booking any more bikes.
No HH dealer here is doing that now. Only clearing current Karizma stock.
Anyways, its a long time since Bajaj Launched a Fuel injected bike (P220). HH cant keep doing Karizma R type stupid tricks everytime and get away with it.....

Hmm... Both bikes are nice bikes. I have had the good fortune of riding both and quite extensively at that.

The Pulsar is blasting. It has got a sexy pick up and roars along. No doubts that it is the faster of the two machines. It is much more feature heavy and the huge display panel looks just awesome.

The Karizma. I own it. Have owned it for close to 3.5 years and it is a wonderful bike. The best thing is the balance. I find the bike to be better balanced than any of the Pulsars. It is comfortable. But on a straight line I dont think it can take out the P200 let alone the P220.
