Building Our Own Custom Motorcycles in Bangalore

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie to the forums although I have been a team-bhp lurker for a couple of months now.

I am interested in building my own custom bike in Bangalore and was wondering if anyone had any advice/help to give.

Anyone know of any good bike mechanics that I could go to and work with?

Any thoughts...good or bad would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Manas

Depends if you want to build it from scratch or work on an existing bike.

I found Joe's garage...thanks for the tip...I have some design experience and will post more on the bike as things develop.

Joe's looks great and I will get in touch with him directly.

Thanks,

Manas

Which bike do you have? Or do you have to start from scratch including the chassis?

What kind of custom modification do you want to get done?

Manson, how much is peanuts?

Well,

I am starting from scratch, including the chasis.

Me and a colleague have registered a company in Bangalore!

We want to build completely indigenous custom bikes.

We have some frame designs we have worked on in autocad. If anyone is interested, will post some details of the bike frame and idea and company we have started.

By the way, I dont own a bike now. used to have a CBR 650 in the US when I lived there and dont know much about bikes other than how to ride. We are learning as we go along.

Sankar, V1p3r: the engine is from a crashed 954. Some scratches etc on the surface with a couple of things missing, but i was told it will run well.
Should cost this side of 50k, infact i was told it might even go cheaper than that!

Where the hell did you get CBR 650 from?? Never thought anything like that existed unless it was custom.

For sure, I am interested at least. When you say custom, what style is it? sport, chopper, dirt ??

This is something I would love to have done myself. There are a few issues though. One option was to buy parts from the US, where you have stores that cater big time to this business. To build something from scratch that can be registered and used would entail a great deal of running around government regulatory bodies not to mention the high startup costs.

To get things going I'd recommend working off the Enfields. First I'd do some custom bodywork which can either be sold to existing enthusiasts or you do bikes fresh and sell them. Once you have a reasonable volume you can then look into tweaking the engine etc. Eventually you could look at developing a twin which after clearance can be sold

Just some thoughts Its a great idea though and I wish you the very best in your endeavours
