Hey,

The much awaited Budget is finally here and is around the corner.

Would this year, see an drastic change in the implications for the motor industry and would it also bring about any drastic cuts or hikes in the prices of various bike models.

The one thing that we could hope for would be the lowering or abolish(ment) of duties for supersport/superbike/DTM variants.

It's high time the governement realised that there would be no risks/threats to local manufacturers (the sole reason for implementation of import duties) by bringing the Busas & R1s to the fore at 5 lacs (which SHOULD be the price that they are sold at). Unlike cars, where you could get an EVO IX for the price of a Embera (if duties were non-existent), bikes do not have any local competition.

With the sales of motorbikes decreasing YoY, all bike makers are gradually moving up the cadre' towards higher capacity "lifestyle" machines. Hopefully we should see some reforms by 2009, if not by 2008.

I'd wait to hear the changes before commenting on them.
