Most new vehicles dont give the best mileage they can. Once the engine is run in, it will get better. In fact, if you havent already changed the oil for the first time, ask your mechanic or the guys at the service center to show you the oil in a clear container if possible. You will see tiny metal particles in it.

Dude during the run-in period you should never cross 4000 RPM.

@straight6: I used to get 50kmpl before 1st service on my 180DTSi V1

carholic is correct you should have stuck to max 4500 rpm. ride with 4.5k & then see how much you get.

This is something i personally follow:

Change oil after 1st 50-60 kms
next changes at 500 kms or at first service even if manual doesnt say so, then on at 2000 kms keeps the engine real fit under hard abuse too :)

please throw the central locking into the nearest dust bin, other wise you can see the battery die with in 1year's time!

more over CL thing costs not more than 700 its just a money making trick and it will eat the battery like crazy!

one more advice, no offenses and please dont feel bad, but just advices, please kick start the bike in the mornings, the way to do it is first with the ignition off and hold the clutch and kick 3-4times and then switch on the ignition and kick start! this way the bike stays well lubricated!

other wise the clutch plates will not stay the way they are suppose to for a long time, you see the design of the clutch bell is such that it does not come with gaps and that really creates GB problems later on!

if you plan to keep this bike for a lone time to come just pm me on the issue you will have to face, if its just like max 2 years then you can just get it serviced at what ever service center you will!

The dealer is SUMAN BAJAJ NOIDA. Nope, i don't have the copy of that disclaimer since it was written on the gate pass which i had to return before leaving, but i do have the CL bill(which says bike security system). Should i write it to BAJAJ AUTO INDIA regarding this because again in the second service it would be the same problem.

I know you had a good share of troubles with your 180 but this first of its kind i have ever heard.

BTW, when will your 180 ownership story will strat or it already started and i missed it?

The Pulsar uses a wet-sump lubrication, when you kick the lever few times before starting the engine, the oil gets coated over the various parts and hence less wear and tear. This is the recommended procedure during cold start in the mornings. It is mentioned in the manual too.

not sure if it's off the topic....why are ppl still buying 180, when we have 200 and the 220 ???? is it for better mileage ?

Dude the reason why i did'nt go for the 200 was because it lacked mileage as compared to 180 & its without the kick start, as far as 220 is concerned i would rather prefer a 225cc Karizma. All i was looking for in a bike was looks(loved the all black theme), power & average mileage.
