Ya, I remember the guy from Car and Bike magazine. He has all the requirements to be the Jeremy Clarkston of India.

Something happened to Dilip Bam for sure. I liked reading his articles and i remember reading that Enfield Diesel article long long back.

These days his written language has become err... funky to say the least

Quote:
FOR BULLET, GO FOR K&N MODEL E-9000 KOSTiNG 2,990/-. IF STD JET ARE 90/27, GO FOR UPTO 110/29. FREE FLO EXHOST FOR BULLET IS NOT REKOMMENDED BKOZ IT IS TOO LOUD AND POLiS MAY KATCH FOR NOiSE POLLUTiON. IF POLiS NOT KATCH THEN FREE FLO OK.
If he was here he would have a hard time posting here in TBhp with mods all over him

Btw that was the answer to a query my friend had asked him on Indiabike.

yes, the gentleman currently writes in language which would surely have him banned within half an hour on tbhp And some very interesting answers I'd rather not post for want of not flaming, but let's just say his current published words do little justice to his past exploits :-)

Any clue what your friends message looked like?

It feels (my guess) almost as if so many people ask him questions wit language lik dis that he replies in the same way as part of his brand of humour.

Resuming my second innings...

What a pleasant surprise to see some people liking the way Dilip writes. He is for sure more fun to talk in person.

Yes. Here it is.

CHRISTOPHER KEVE question: Hi Dilip, I have a 350 bullet, and am looking to upjet and snap on a freef low airfilter and exhaust. Could you please tell me which model of K&N will be good, and also what jet sizes i should go to (i guess the std are, 90/27). Also what free flow exhaust would you suggest? a Shakeel (goldstar ripoff)? or something else? I am not considering porting at this stage, do you suggest it? Are the std cams good enough? Or do i need to shell out precious money on hitchcocks expensive alternative (16k for a pair of performance cams)? I am basically looking for a more powerful power output, and dont mind a drop in fuel efficiency. My main usage is on the highways, city use is only once in a while. Thanks, Keve

Indiabike's answer: FOR BULLET, GO FOR K&N MODEL E-9000 KOSTiNG 2,990/-. IF STD JET ARE 90/27, GO FOR UPTO 110/29. FREE FLO EXHOST FOR BULLET IS NOT REKOMMENDED BKOZ IT IS TOO LOUD AND POLiS MAY KATCH FOR NOiSE POLLUTiON. IF POLiS NOT KATCH THEN FREE FLO OK. MY REKOMEND IS TO GO FOR STD SHORTEST SiLENCER. DON"T GO FOR PORTiNG AT THiS STAGE. REGARDiNG PERFORMANCE CAM, I THiNK 16K IS TOO MUCH. AT THiS STAGE JUST GO FOR K&N, BiGGER JETS AND SHORT SiLENCER. USE BiKE LiKE THiS FOR SOME TiME AND IF STiLL WANT PERF. CAMs, GO FOR IT AT A LATER STAGE.

Miss his reviews and writing style

Ahhh..... Brings back memories of old days!

I literally grew up reading the reviews of various Indian two wheelers by Mr. Dilip Bam in Auto India, the only Auto Magazine that was easily available in those days

To me, at that age, his' reviews were the only ones which I could really understand (I was around ten at that time).

I did take his recommendation from one of the reviews and bought an Escorts Toro Jazz Moped and it was one hell of a thing! Thoroughly enjoyable and really fuel efficient thing!

His writing style was really amazing and it was always a very enjoyable thing to read his articles - something thats completely missing in all the reviews these days we get to read these days(except for a few articles in BSMotoring these days). This is just my opinion though, no offence to anyone.

His way of explaining the practicality of every feature and utility was very good, in a way which made even the most path breaking features look stupid and useless and vice versa!

Regards,
Jaspreet Singh

Awesome story, Moralfibre. Sounds like a situation which Dilip would get himself into.

You bet. Humour aside, he had no reservations in criticising manufacturers in an absolutely blatant manner. This is something you don't see in any car magazines of today.

Another classic Dilip Bam statement. Why isn't he writing for any car magazine anymore?
