Dear Bhpians,

kindly advice the right tyre size i should go for in my yahama R15. I love the bike but not the width of the tyres. I dont ride it very fast so top speed is not a big issue for me, looks are more important.

Kindly advice the right size for the front and the back tyres.

I was thinking 130/80/r17 at the back and 100/80/r17 in the front. Is it ok ?

Varun, You will lose the warranty if you change the tyres. For a new bike it may be a problem if you lose warranty.

Do take advise of your dealer before you change the tyre.

How can you lose warranty if you change tyres? Afaik changing tyres wont void your warrantry, atleat it doesnt in cars. Dont know about bikes cheers:

If you notice the rear tyre near the swingarm, there is hardly enough space to put a finger between the two.. So fitting a bigger tyre is bit of a doubt. Maybe 120/xx might be the max u can put on it..

Can some confirm this??

Apparently, the R15's tyres were specially designed for it.
The compound is soft too.
Why do you need to upset the balance of India's first enthusiast's bike?

seriously guys that bike really need some wide tyers ...the body is not matching with the tyers.

from front looks ok but from the back the tyers look too skiny

hi guys i have surfed in net and found out some cool modification in r15
its done in Indonesia on the bike called Vixion it shares the same engine and the delta frame of r15 only the styling changes check out this

bikes

From what I know, the stock tires on R15 were specially developed by MRF in consultation with Yamaha and the guys who run the bike on track swear by them, since the soft compound sticks to the tarmac providing superior grip. Its the combination of tires and the delta box frame which makes R15 the best handling bike in the segment.

I am afraid you would loose the core biking essentials for the sake of looks alone, so think about it before you chose to 'upgrade'. It may just turn out to be 'all show, no go'!
