Gas shocks for Suzuki Fiero?

Hi,
I have a 2001 suzuki fiero and it has done 75000kms.
Off late, my bike shock absorber has been very hard and its hurting my back. I reconditioned it but still its hard.
I changed the setting to the softest(5) but this only helps when i ride doubles.
But since most of the time i travel alone i think i need an alternative.

My queries are:

1.Can i do some adjustments with this same shocks to make it soft?
2.If no, Which bike's shock absorbers should be a straight fit?
3.If its a gas shocks,should i put Apache's(difficult to find,bit expensive) or Pulsar(Easy to find,cheaper) or any other make?

Please help.
