Its a 2006 model apache 150 which ran our big bore 200cc kit initially. Then, he decided to convert it into an RTR. So every styling bit and every other part of the RTR....parts worth 45k was picked. All swapped over a painful 2 months process at Zen TVS. So we always knew about the RTR/fiero bore-stroke = 175cc conversion. So suggested this.
A stock big bore RTR is what u can have. So the top end was swapped to the RTR bits and runs a BS29 carb. The bike looks like an RTR, titanium grey. Its an RTR in every sense. Every part in the bike, except the frame and bottom engine cases is new.
Its peppy and moves well. We have never done any real world speed checks, coz our man is used to touring and hardly at home over weekends.
But I'm reallly feeling bad that such an enthusiastic rider is off to a retirement from bikes after an accident(no, the bike never collided anywhere). This RTR180 is up for sale now. I know how much money he has flown into it, the whole bike would have costed him almost 1.3Lakhs or more with all the works. Has a HID kit too. However he has decided to part ways. Sadly I will loose a good biker in him.

@Technocrat: Osram nightbreaker will cost about Rs 600/- per piece and the silverstar about Rs. 150/- So the choice is yours.

@Joel: Though the biking part being true, will always be a friend of yours for life

What's the battery wattage of RTR Fi? Can the headlamp alone be wired to run on DC from battery with a cutout and 60/55 H4's? Can the alternator take it on the long run? What about HID's? Which would be a better option from performance and reliability point of view?

Well I have just been commuting on the bike, have done just 12xx kms so far.

The latest mileage returned is 42.xx which includes some hard core ripping & fast commuting. Under such riding the ZMA used to return 29-30 kpl

The bike does have vibrations around 6k-7k rpm. The pull & grunt around 7k rpm is addictive :P

The rising RPM issue still surfaces from time to time(4-5 times in last 600 kms) & as per Arpan its probably because the engine is running lean & should not be a major issue.

Planning to put Castrol Power 1 at 1500 kms

If Motul is available in the 40W grade go for it man. We put Motul 300v in jkdas' avenger and it made a lot of difference, the usual harshness of bajaj engine was very much subdued and the bike started performing better.

hmm now I am confused, I have used Power 1 in both my P180 V1 & ZMA & was very happy happy with it as I could see noticeable difference as in the both the bikes became very smooth & performed better than OEM oils.

I have used Motul 300V FL for my Apache for 7K kms.... it was really good...remarkable difference! Initially I must admit that I dint get any big difference. Then I gave the bike for a routine service to the service center where they replaced some parts w.r.t transmission ...and wow... the bike was super smooth....

Just keep n mind that you get the best results when you have completely drained the engine oil and also replaced the oil filter (34bucks).

Btw, My fi has completed just <700kms but I have changed the oil twice first time was after the compeletion of 200kms and then i changed it again at 550.

TVS Tru4 ->Castrol(Basic)-> and now using Veedol Super swift (Semi Synth)

PS : I am right now riding both the Apache and the fi ...and it never fails to amaze me what TVS has done to the original apache. My bike feels like a nice commuter with strong and gruff engine while the fi feels ready to hit the track! and that exhaust note....its simply the best 4 stroke note in the country....right up there with 'the original' - fiero (imo)
